Title: Proposed Immigration Regulation Post by: mdante99 on October 10, 2001, 04:00:00 AM I have heard on other Boards that there is proposed legislation, that if passed into law, will block almost all immigration to USA, eliminating MOB.
Is this a rumor? Does anyone know anything about it? Though I think there would be tough immigration laws enacted; how tough that remains to be seen. Even if all visas are affected, I can not imagine that our government would tell a man that marries a woman from a foreign country while he is there, that he can not bring her home. I would be more concerned about countries like Russia deciding that they do not want quality women leaving their country to places like the USA. If too many doctors etc leave, this a financial as well as resource loss for them. Somebody did reference an article quite a while back that said the Ukraine was concerned at the large number of women that left the country. Seems like the number was close to 15,000 a year. Some countries like the money being sent back to the relatives by the people that left. It also takes off some of the pressure felt from unemployment by getting them out. They also pick up skills that they might bring back to the country someday if they return. Title: Yes, it's a rumor - But... ... Senator Diane Feinstein (D-Calif) is introducing a bill for a moratorium on student visas for six months until the system can be overhauled. It says nothing about K-1 fiance or K-3 spousal visas. On the other hand if you were trying to get a K-1 for a Saudi women who'd spent the last few years in Afghanistan, you might have some trouble.
