Title: Such a nice place! Post by: febtember on December 21, 2002, 05:00:00 AM Hello Everybody!
I arrived U.S.A july 13, 2001 with my (former fiancee)now husband. We leave P.I july 13 the same day when I arrived here ohmmmmmmmmmmm plus you know that july 13,2001 is friday the 13th.It's something funny for me, but I dont have Phobia about friday the 13th I dont believed superstitious my MOM do.My Port of entry were San Francisco, while still on the plane the the pilot greet "Good evening the time exactly 7 p.m"and announce that were already in San Francisco and ready for landing.I ask my fiancee like this"MY Love what time again'then he response"it's 7 p.m.My eyes wide and say"7 p.m still have dayligth. I call my Mom as soon as I can then tell here all the interesting story I have. By 12 midnight we board on TWA airline bound for Lambert ST.Louis.We arrived there exactly 6 a.m and there my fiancee parents waiting for us.They give me a warm welcome hug. Then hop on thier very nice car heading for Raymond,Illinois. Its one hour drive 70 miles. Wow!what a nice place! All I see were corn and green plant,I never know that it's soybeans.I can't believed this ,all you see here were miles and miles of corn and soybeans. At last I'm here in Illinois in the middle of nowhere. In the middle of farm.I really like it here, so much.I live with my fiancee parents till we get married and move to my fiancee's house after the wedding. My husband parents super nice to me.All people in this small town give me warm welcome.I feel like I'm a princess here. I enjoy helping my fiancee(now husband).I help him building the grain bin.I ask him whats grain bin for.He told me for the grains.I'm so proud to tell you all here that i'm the one put flashings on our bin and help put the flooring. I learn how to drive tractor on my second day here and drive pick up truck.I really like it here.I go with him in some farm auction sale and tractor show and tractor pull. Its pretty interesting.I can't immagine how the auctioner talk too past.In every auction and show we go I keep on looking some people hoping to find Filipina but never found any.I think i'm the first filipina in tractor shows, auction and pull.hehehe:) I use to ride with my husband in our combine and can't believed how this machine work. For me its like spacecraft ,the sounds like where in ourter space. Its fully aircondition and it make me fall asleep there while my husband harvest the corn and soybeans.I ride with him in tractor with cab when he flow our field and get ready for the next planting season. We own a big farm ground and run a machine shop. I like the food here.Oh my I never eat real big sweet sweetcorn before,I like roast beef, szukinee bread, never see real apple tree, pear tree, strawberry ,super big sunflower. My husband and I love to go animals show and some petting zoo.I never see llamas before, camel and deer, dunky, and moose. I see the season also from summer, fall and snow.I'll be more excited this spring my husband prefer a plot of land for my garden. We got married last sept.8 2001.Honeymoon not yet over!I'm really bless being a farm wife.A friend of mine give me mama bunny and week after she give birth to 9 cute baby bunny's.My husband bestfriend give us the uglies pig in whole world his 4 task stick outside but his not a mean pig his really friendly we name him "Arnold "the pig. Such a beautiful life where I am now. It's a paradise! My husband and I love John Deere tractor coz its run like a deere. Title: Re: Such a nice place! Great story! Welcome to Illinois, where the soybean is still king. BTW - Illinois is not the middle of nowhere, but the exact middle of everywhere, although, when you're in a soybean field, it amounts to the same thing... May the years bring you many joyful harvests! Title: Re: Such a nice place! mrs. Febtember welcome to the board ... I recall viewing your website a few weeks ago with interest. Many of the people who post here appear to go through a culture shock when they visit the phillipines especially the provinces. I thought now here is a real twist a filipina with an industrial job marrying a farmer. now that might be a real culture shock. Many of the posters here I am assuming live pretty close to larger metropolitan cities. I think many of us would be in for a culture shock even if we visit farms in our own country. We find the end results of the farmers work in our grocery stores but how many of us realize what it takes to produce it on the farms and ranches. I think your story is an interesting tale and I am glad that you are having a blast learning about life on the farm. However llamas are native to South America and are not really very common in North America. But for some reason they are always at the petting zoos ha ha ha. I found it interesting that you stayed with your future in laws until you were married. Now that is the traditional way of doing it! Thanks for sharing your new life with us. Next summmer you might not feel so singled out in your community though when many of the farmers get their summer working tans ha ha ha All the Best Windmill Boy Title: Re: Such a nice place! Hey WB, Just go to an Argentinean barbecue. I have several friends from Argentina. They love meat and eat all kind of glands, intestines, and miscellaneous (unknown to me) body parts. I just stick to the sausage...I don't know what's in it and I don't care to know. I have a good idea about the casing... 8-O Dave H.
