Title: Vonnage in Jamundi

Pete,

If the only high speed internet you get in Jamundi is satellite then I'm almost certain you'll run into problems.  The main issue with satellite is latency or the delay it takes for the data to get up to the satellite's location and then to come down.  Even though the data is travelling at the speed of light the total delay will at best be close to 3/4 of a second and could easily exceed a full second.  You'll also need continious upload/download speed of at least 100 kbps.

James

Your high-speed cable connection uses satellite when it traverses continents and you don't notice the delay, besides Vonage buffers the signal.

I think James is saying that it will be difficult to have an internet Vonage conversation with so much delay. You can see it on a CNN (communist news network)news program when someone is in Iraq giving a live story. Each party must stop and wait before the other can speak ....
