Title: BAQ hotel info Post by: Montrealer on November 30, 2005, 05:00:00 AM My novia visited a different hotel for me, to see if it would be simular in style to the Dann Carlton in BAQ. SHe saw one across from El Prado called Hotel Belle Claire or something and said it was very nice.
Does anybody know about this hotel, because I can't find anything about it on the net. Who knows, maybe I'm misspelling it. But if it sounds farmiliar to anyone, could you let me know. Apparently it is more of an American style with full kitchen. I thought since I was going to be there a month, and wanted to try a more domesticated time than a vacation time during my stay with my novia, that this might be a good option. If anybody knows anything or can link me to a website since nothing comes up in Google about it. [This message has been edited by Spanky] youre still looking for a hotel for that vacation you've been planning for two months now? Where is my $75 for that English speaking taxi driver you wanted? hehe Title: Where you been Spanky??? Obviously not reading the forum. I've already gone, loved it, met someone, returned and wrote a lengthy trip report about it last week. So again, I ask, where have you been Spanky??? As for the $75, like I told you before, I only pay $75 if it comes with a 'happy ending' and I'm smoking a cigarette afterwards. hehe Title: Re: BAQ hotel info Post by: Fuzzyone on December 01, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to BAQ hotel info, posted by Montrealer on Nov 30, 2005
Have you tried Hotel Majestic? How long have you been seeing your novia? Does your girl have have room for you in the house? When I was in Barranquilla I stayed with my wife's family. I figured out about how much I would have spent to pay for a hotel and gave the money to her mother. My wife's mother loved me forever after that. Think about it because if things are working out good for you it will allow you to see how the family does things. i was lucky that when i flew down to meet my fiance for the first time, she had invited me to stay with her and her family. we had such a great long distance, phone, email etc relationship that she felt comfortable asking me to stay with them. i personally thought, well, what if i had be a psycho or something, great over the phone but a nut in person. i thought it was rather brave of them to allow a stranger into their home but anyway, i got to see everything that went on. they were very open and at no time did i feel that they were pretending and being on their best behavior, i saw the good with the bad over the course of one month. this was a great experience that i would not have seen staying at a hotel so if at all possible try to stay with the family. btw, i stayed at the majestic for 2 nights, didn't have a problem but another poster, lookingforwife, wasn't happy with the place, too many mosquitos that got in through the vent in the bathroom, so you may want to consider a modern hotel like dann carlton across from buenavista mall. As I told in another post, me staying at her house would be too tight for room, as she is already sharing a single bed with her sister. There just isn't enough space for them, never mind me. I didn't have any problem with mosquitoes while I was in BAQ the first time, but that was at the Dann Carlton. I think I will stay at the Dann for a day or two until I check out the other hotels, and than make up my mind. When you think of it, the Dann is not that expensive for the 5 weeks. It comes to about $3000 USD plus food. I'll see when I get down there, but I am more than open to any other suggestions. Especially, but not including Vallclaire. ................. Unfortunately me staying at her parents house is not an option as already my novia shares a single bed with her younger sister. So I think that would be a good sign that space is limited. I don't knowif lipstick or make-up would be appropriate for the mom-in-law, but you gave me an idea of a purse. It's feminine, but still isnt as personal as make-up. That kinda sucks, but I don't think the parents would like very much you sharing the bed with both :-) Anyway a purse is a good ideal, I would look for a name brand if possible if not try a knock off. Half the time people here can't tell from the real thing. I have a woman from barranquilla that sleeps next to me every night so I get first hand knowledge from her. I guess I did everything right because she married me. Her mother loved perfurm and I use to bring with me lotions for all the girls in the family they loved them. I talked to my wife about knock offs she claimed the woman would know but she thinks every colombian woman can read their man's minds, so I guess she must have known what I had on my mind when I first met her. [This message has been edited by soltero] Make up with Papi, because he knows more about the accomodations in the major Colombian cities than anybody. The guy is a walking brochure for cabs, hotels, and agencies in BAQ for sure...or, you could try the archives, more than likely, Papi has already posted about it. Already sent Papi an email and posted a public apology in the thread below. One step ahead of you, or maybe 2 days behind. Title: ??? hotel belle claire ??? Post by: Montrealer on November 30, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to BAQ hotel info, posted by Montrealer on Nov 30, 2005
