Title: Tourist Visa for my wifes father....question.
Post by: Chris F on October 13, 2005, 04:00:00 AM
My wife and I will be having a church ceramony in January and she would like her father to be there. He had a tourist visa before and has been to the United States many years ago...but it has expired.

To increase the chance that he can get a tourist visa again.. ..I want to write a letter asking that they give strong consideration to granting his request for a tourist Visa so he can attend his daughter's wedding. Would I send this letter to the Embassy in Peru???

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help here...

Wow, can't believe he let a US tourist visa expire! Maybe didn't have the money when it was time to renew it?

I don't think sending the letter to the Embassy would help, it probably wouldn't find it's way to his interview anyway once it arrived. He should take the letter with him to his interview, carry it himself. Heck, even include a few photos of all of you together. My wife and I plan to write a similar letter when we apply for a tourist visa for our niece/nephew in Peru. The kid's parents will take the letter when they go for the interview.

There are very specific instructions posted on the US Embassy website regarding how to apply. I would follow those to the letter, maybe you have read them already.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. Especially let us know if the interviewer actually reads and considers the letter in the decision.
