Title: Morenas and Triguenas Post by: cabocancun on August 22, 2005, 04:00:00 AM Guys,
One of the members sent me an Email asking me to define the words,"Morena and Triguena". I think in Colombia a Triguena is a woman with an olive or tanned complexion and black hair. I think a morena would have a carmel or brown complexion. How would you guys define these terms? Eva Longoria trigueña RosarioDawson morena Deborah David morena speedy gonzalez trigueño hair texture does have something to do with it. the fact that a morena straightens her hair doesn´t change the fact that she has african roots. there is no way that ACG779 has naturally straight hair, its chemically treated. a morena has african features although they are less pronounced than a negra, a trigueña doesnt have the african features but they have darker skin, hair, eyes than a blanca. you said she was morena but she has straight hair. hair has nothing to do with skin tone. Title: Re: what about Rosario Dawson?? Post by: jediknight on August 23, 2005, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to what about Rosario Dawson??, posted by Malandro on Aug 23, 2005
my guess is that she straightens it, but i could be wrong. the point is this, my original post said GENERALLY speaking. GENERALLY speaking means that there will be exceptions, Rosario Dawson is multi ethnic, she is of Puerto Rican, Cuban, African American, Irish and Native American descent, so her hair, if it is naturally straight, comes from her irish and native american background, but she still has african features that makes her morena. a trigueña does not have african features and i didn´t say that hair had anything to do with skin tone, i said hair TEXTURE, there is a difference between an afro type texture in a negra or morena and curly or wavey hair that a trigueña might have. the skin tone is what is important. No Ameri-Indians have curly or kinky hair yet many Mexican women are "morena". what is this woman? http://www2.latineuro.com/detail.php?code=B6054 Title: Re: the amount of african blood is irrelevant Post by: jediknight on August 23, 2005, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to the amount of african blood is irrelevan..., posted by Malandro on Aug 23, 2005
[This message has been edited by jediknight] skin tone is NOT the only factor, B6054 Renata is morena. african decent has everything to do with it in colombia, having lived in jackson heights, nyc and having worked in a mexican restaurant i have never ever heard of a mexican woman being referred to as morena, if they are really dark they will be referred to as india because of their mayan, aztec, indian background, but the original post was referring to the terms used in colombia, not mexico, their use might be different as it may differ in other latin countries. [This message has been edited by jediknight] my girlfriend confirmed this and she is costeña.... GENERALLY speaking, negra is black(really dark skin)like the little statues that are sold in the artesanias of the women carrying fruit baskets on their heads in colombia, morena is a lighter skin version of that but still of african decent, like halle berry. triguena is someone with a tan skin, darker eyes, hair, like JLo, generally straight hair but can be curly but not kinky like a morena or negra, black persons hair(afro). women from cali are generally described as triguena while there are more morenas and negras in the coast. it is very commen for people to describe others as morena or triguena.
