I'm curious as to how the "U.S." husbands pull this off! It would be very interesting reading, to get more info on the migration/immigration. Wonder how ol Fidel feels about his "Flowers" making a break for it....lol

Hoda, I worked at one of the refugee camps for the Mariel Boat Lift so I guess I'm qualified to give an opinon on this (at least I was in 1980, hee hee). Anyway, one day (about the 3rd or 4th day into the situation) they were holding a news conference and were interviewing one of the Cubans. His english was pretty good, they had me standing just off camera, to help him if he got stuck, but he didn't. Text of interview:

News Guy: How many Cubans do you think want to leave Cuba?

Cuban: Fourteen million.

News Guy: Fourteen million? How many people LIVE in Cuba?

Cuban: Fourteen million and two.

News Guy: Oh, I get it. But I think you mean fourteen million and one.

Cuban: You forget, his brother is VICE-president.
