Title: Has anyone here been to both FSU & LA?
Post by: Frank O on July 28, 2005, 04:00:00 AM
Just wondering is there ANYONE here who has actually been to either Ukraine or Russia AND to a Latina American country as well? IF so how would you express your opinions on BOTH respectively? I'm in a dilemma in my near start for a new wife.

I was married to a Russian (Moscow) for 7 years before divorcing 5 years ago.
Engaged to another (twice!). I've visited the FSU 8 or 9 times. I've also been to
Colombia about 25 times and have dated plenty of ladies there and have a
current girlfriend in BAQ.  Are you asking about the ladies specifically or the
places? Do you want a comparison of the benefits and problems of travelling
to each place? I'm going to Cali & BAQ in Aug, then St. Petersburg in Sept. Ask
away!

Anzo, you sound like a man who knows the ropes.  How did you meet your friend in BAQ?  What are your plans in Cali? Agency? hotel?  Regarding the FSU, I have chatted a lot with Frank and agree with his assessment that the women there are absolutely gorgeous but the language, costs, and distance not to mention scam agencies, etc make it a far more difficult endeavor in my view.  I am leaving for BAQ shortly – when do you get into town?

I met my lady friend on a spur of the moment discision to go to a "Sexy
Safari" party weekend. I think they are/were affiliated with Barranquilla's Best.
I could be wrong about that. It took place at the Versailles (2 years ago). She
is currently staying at my apartment near Exito. As for Cali, I met a girl at the
TLC tour there 3 years ago. We dated off and on (I was kinda waiting for her
to finish up school), but we drifted and she ended up marrying a one trip
wonder and recently had a baby and lives in the US. But I am quite close with
her family and they spoil me silly when I'm there. We've adopted each other.
I'll stay at the Intercontinental and probably visit Blues Brothers. No plans to
visit an agency.

I arrive in BAQ on the 12th, I think, for 5 nights. Drinks on me if you're
there then.

Torres de Calibri-right above the Western Union office and Blockbuster.
About $350 or so a month + admin. 2 BR, nice building. She (Marta) never
had hot water in her life and thinks it is a waste of money! Same with air.
Huge terrace, pool, security. I don't have any actual contact info right now. I'll
see what I can do.

Met former wife through the pre-internet ('92) black and white catalog,
Scanna. It may have been a bit more romantic then, as I'd send a letter and
wait a month or more for a reply. Anyway, the FSUs, in general, are better
educated, more cultured, more diverse looks-wise ranging from Scandinavian
blondes to far-eastern and everything in between. My ex, long dark hair,
asian eyes, seriously rockin' bod...,  is a professional musician and is now
with a major opera company. They seem to have a lot of  "want" built up
inside. I personally think they're sexier (go ahead and flame me).  They're a
bit more like onions-layers that get revealed as you get to know them better.
Once you're in, they're every bit as passionate as the Latins. And they get just
as demonstrative when they are pissed off (believe me!). In terms of history
and culture, well, Russia has been around a long time and the folks there are
quite proud. Extremely nice and unbelievably generous with what they have,
once you've gotten to know them a little. It is a matriarcial society, so the
women are usually quite strong of will, opinion and if life gets really tough,
I'd want a Rooski any day. The dads seem to be there largely for providing,
and it is clear who runs the house, and who you have to please if you want
their daughter! If you ever get invited to their apartment, consider it an honor
and be very, very hungry.  Other than the party girls in the bigger cities,
they're not at all frivolous. You can have a college educated family of 4 living
in a 2 br Soviet style apartment and living on 150/mo. Grim. As far as the
Latinas, most everybody on the board can chime in. Simpler, more happy-go-
lucky, wear their hearts on their sleeves. Both places are filled with nice
ladies. You just have to visit and sees what works best. Obviously, SA is a lot
closer. 3 day weekends can mean a visit. Language is easier. No jet lag. No
visas. No St. Pete Winters (BRRRRRRR!). Scamming is a fine art with some of
the ladies in the FSU and you MUST have your wits about you if you visit
there, as you WILL fall in love instantly with the Smokin'-Hot-Kova you've
been corresponding with!!! Wait till the 1st time you hear "Dahlink" with that
accent. I have several friends either married, engaged, or visiting FSU girls,
though 1 is starting to get interested in SA because of the above difficulties.
But every unmarried guy REALLY needs to visit the FSU. Nevsky Prospekt
(main commercial/social street in St. Pete) on a July evening is the most
amazing display of Euro fashion, short skirts, the world's best sets of legs, no
sunset, and virtually NO fat chicks. Nothing in Colombia is remotely close. All
in all, your life would probably be a bit easier with a SA lady, but do look
around. I got lots more totally subjective opinions...

Yes most of what you say is true
I lived in LA a couple of years and now live part time in FSU, have had girlfriends of both
the slavic woman can be domineering but it just means you have to be stronger, they will sense a power vacuum and they are more complex.
i think it mostly comes down to preferences as far as looks. there are all kinds of ladies in both places

It's the matriarchial society you mentiond that I didn't like. Sorry but I'm NOT into the women being the one running the house. Diana gave me that krap about "yes the man is the head of the house, but the women is the neck & she moves the head in whatever direction SHE wants". Sorry that just did NOT work.
But like you said the LOOKS!!!!! THey ARE gorgous. But then AGAIN my wife who was Ukrainian/Russian that I picked LOOKED like a LATINA. If you did NOT hear hear speak you would think she WAS Latina.
Thanks so VERY much for pointing all this out. That's what I was looking for. But then you DID tell me everything I thought. I just thought perhaps on top of what went wrong with MY choice that many of the things you pointed out were NOT just with MY wife. The strong opinions etc. Sorry I don't mind that but I don't want a wife fighting with me to see who is the head of the house.

I have been to both Odessa and Cali one time apiece.  I found receptive women in both places.  I think I could have been happy with a women from either place.  At this point I have decided that overall I think I click better with the Latina more so than the Ukrainian.  I am more casual and I think I have a better chance of getting along long term with a latina (As long as I pick the right one), which brings me to the crux of what I want to say.  I do not think it matters much where you go, you still will have to make a good choice in either location so ultimately it is entirely in your hands.  You know you so where do you want to go?

Thanks for that. So there is SOMEONE who has been & dated both. I was just wondering if perhaps my WRONG choice was NOT an anomaly but perhaps most Ukes were like that. I dated several Ukrainian ladies but they are all VERY similar. I've dated MANY Mexicans & they were all similar. I WOULD choose a MExican over a Uke ANY day. At this time like you said it boils down to me...I guess I WOULD be happier with a Latina lady. Just more compatible in many ways. Judging from the ladies I dated & the ones I married.
Thanks.

Whatever continent you coast to is not as relevant as who you are.  Regardless of the place or woman you choose you are always going to be stuck with YOU.  Are you the person you want to be before you look for a wife.  A long, long time ago I took a tuneup class for my brain and I made many of the best decisions of my life shortly after that weekend long class.  I know I need a mental tuneup and a refocusing and I only have a month to fit it in before Colombia.  You may consider doing something like that for yourself.  YOU may be what the issue is not where you travel to.  Perhaps you understand yourself and what your needs are thoroughly, but if not a heap of trouble could be coming your way wherever you go!
I wish you peace.

Perhaps Franks brain is ok. I hope it is.   I am convinced that luck and work are a factor but not nearly as crucial as tending to your melon. 100 trips for some would bear no fruit, or worse which would be rotten fruit. The critical element is YOU!

My point is learn as much about yourself as you can and do this for yourself and you will be better able to choose a woman that you can make happy.

I hope you find this helpful. If nothing else it helps me sort out my own thoughts.

I have been to Colombia and Mexico many times but I have never been to either the Ukraine or Russia. However, my brother is married to an ethnic Russian from Odessa in the Ukraine. I am married to a Colombiana. Why you would even consider going to Russia/Ukraine is beyond me. Being married to a Colombiana is as close as any man will get to heaven while still on this earth. Being married to a Russian is not. Definitely not.

She is a rather cold and controlling person, not warm and affectionate like my wife. Also she is fairly rigid in her thinking and not at all flexible or open to new ideas. They live in Canada and she is convinced that the US is filled with violence and crime. I told her that I live in a rural area with so little crime that I don't even have a lock on my door. She flatly refused to believe me and told me that this could not be true. I think I should know if I have a lock on my own door! Also, even though she and her parents are living in Canada with my brother, they are still convinced that Communism was the best system. If it was so great, WTF are they all doing here then? Her father, who is Jewish, even has a picture of Stalin hung up in his room! Figure that out!

Western countries need a screening process against such leeches.  What does a host country gain when new arrivals despise the system that puts food in their mouths and a roof over their heads?

Amazing the ingratitude and lack of shame.

Frank, when you said they were communists, did you mean that they were actually party members?

When you apply of immigration, adjustment of status, or naturalization, you are required to answer under penalty of perjury whether you have ever been a member of, or in any way affiliated with, the Communist Party or any other totalitarian party.

Does answering YES automatically result in denial? I’m not sure what the current policy is, but you will at least have some further explaining to do.

Question: Why would anyone want to marry a commie anyway? :-)

Many love Stalin because it brings back NOSTALGIC and DELUDED memories of PERCEIVED stable times, since there current state of affairs is a disaster.  I am somewhat of a history buff and can tell you that those feelings are indeed delusional. However, it is hard to believe a Jewish person would have a picture of him on the wall. He was one of the top most evil men of all time second maybe only to Hitler and responible for countless murders of both Jewish and non-Jewish alike

Well what I do not understand what is there to compare? There is nothing to compare L.A. to the old U.S.S.R. If you try to read some of the old post here you would see how the woman are in L.A. You will not get a unbiased opinion of L.A. woman here as the same on the other forums. So what you are telling us you had several trips planned for this summer to go to Bogota or Colombia or to Costa Rica or just a vacation to meet woman in L.A.? What I am trying to get across to you is the following... your boys on your forum asked you point blank Hey Frank are defecting to L.A.? Oh no guys I am not I am just going on vacation that is all donīt worry. There is no body here that can make your mind up for you, compare what ever you want but sooner or later the guys here will get tied of having to spoon feed you everything because you canīt decide if you plan on putting milk in your coffee or drink it black.... Frank, if you still have your ticket - why not try to workout a deal with Nelson and visit your other friend, if you find the ladies attractive in his agency?? Then maybe try Cali. If it works - you will save yourself a bundle. If no good, it isn't going to kill you monetarily in the long run. I'd say one trip to Bog and one to Cali would be a good effort. no good - back to Kiev. This way you wont second guess yourself if you do end up going back to Kiev
