An article from today's El Tiempo newspaper showed the end results of a survey which concluded that 8 out of 10 colombian men cheat on their woman. It also concluded that 3 out of 10 colombian women cheat on their man.

The article went on to say that most of the men cheat because they cant help themselves, while the woman that cheat do it out of loneliness, unfullfilment or revenge.

I had a marriage where I cheated and my ex-wife did too. Given a choice between that or my life today, there is no comparison. I'm no saint (clearly!) but I like going to sleep at night with a clear conscience knowing that the intimate relations between myself and my wife are not shared with anyone else and that they are part of our unique and special bond. I feel pretty possessive about her and she feels the same way about me. I like it.

I can believe that..ALL the COL guys i've met that have some money(ie, middle class income level) do cheat either with hookers or a girlfriend on the side.  As for GRINGOS cheating, i'm sure they are no different, especially if they go native.  When i rome..

IF that is true then maybe latinos arent any more likely to be faithful or unfaithful as any American guy they just usually have more options? I mean isnt that why american guys go to Colombia, for more/better options? How many american guys do you think could stay faithful in a city like Cali? It surely cant be easy ;)

Funny thing, as I was marvelling at the abundance of beautiful babes on my first trip to BAQ, my beatutiful female translator said to me "Can you kind of understand why Colombian men might be so unfaithful?" :-)

If Colombian men are supposed to be more unfaithful than American men, then I would presume that 8 out of 10 cheating is a low figure.

My presumption based only on empirical data, from observation, and from years of counseling men, women, and couples, is that 90% of married American men either have or will commit adultery.

As far as unmarried men are concerned in Colombia or America, "cheating" (whatever that means in a legally uncomitted relationship) is virtually a given.

From the feedback I get from Colombians, it appears that Colombian men are more prolific with their unfaithfulness.  In other words, they seem to be more likely to have a multiplicity of simultaneous partners under the guise of exclusivity.  They also seem to be more flagrant with their cheating, whereas American men in general may be more discreet.

For starters, in some cases Colombian men are like kids in a candy store. Otherwise, it is mostly a myth that the agencies and the Latinas will tell you why in part the Latinas like Americans - thinking we are more faithful. Some might believe it but economics and finding a better life are the driving force. That is why the upscale ladies in Medellin or Miami could care less about meeting a gringo. Not to say some aren't sincere - but you need to separate the wheat from the chafe which is not always so easy to do, especially in Colombia. It takes time and experience at this to recognize the red lights and warning signs

Mango's (and the other hot spots of Poblado) are the last places I would look for a woman in Medellin. You may as well stay home because you're right - you're not bringing anything to the table as a gringo that is going to appeal to them. If you start moving about the rest of Medellin's barrios like Laureles, Belen, Estadio and similar parts of town, you'll do much better. The women are still a good class of women, educated and many of them like my wife, with professional careers, but they are not wealthy like the Poblado set. Yes, they do think gringos are a higher class of man. My wife would be quite content if we moved to Medellin and lived there. BTW, I noticed after I posted that I've got a typo in the subject heading.

I've met LOT FEWER guys cheating in the US than COL.  I suspect because it takes money to cheat, you gotta take your "Girlfriend" out and pay for hotel and such.  In US a Middle Class guy with a steady GF or WIFE DOESNT Have the time or the MONEY to cheat AS MUCH.  Especially if he wants an hot GF on the side, those cost money!  IN COL, money goes a LONG way, between a GF or hooker.

Girlfriend NUMBER TWO
GF#2 is one you change every one or two month, BEFORE she can get serious and want to be promoted to GF#1 or Wife.  They'll keep there GF#1 or WIFE because that's the "serious" one, the Future or present MOTHER of their children.  While GF#2 is just a plaything.  In COL GF#2 is ALWAYS hot!  

On another forum, one american expat living in CALI says..

"i'm mid thrities lived in Cali for 3 years and i have..
a wife, 2 kids, a horse, AND 5 Girlfriends"  LOL!

Those 3 out of 10 women sure must be busy or more likely, the receipients of the men's unfaithfulness are single women.
