Title: threats & lies Post by: Ken2 on June 26, 2005, 04:00:00 AM Over a month ago I contacted Sam in BQ and inquired about his English Institute. He informed me he worked in conjuction with a school but did not own it. I contacted a gal named Belkis who spoke broken english and told me she was an administrator of the school. I was told I could pay for my girl friends classes monthly the first month 350.000 pesos. She neer mentioned a contract. Then 300.000 each month after. After a montht the girl friend is not happy with the quality of the school and wants to go else where. They tell her she has signed a contract (6) months and if she breaks it she will not be able to leave for the USA as they have connections with athorities in Colombia. Today they paid her a visit at her house. They want a flat fee to quit 450.000. Not a large amount. My issue is the threats and Belkis turns out to be a "sales Person" not an administator. Im more convinced now than ever a lot of colombians are crooked. I will visit this school in August and confront their inconsistencies. I'll probably pay. First I may consult a laywer. my lady could hae been more careful before signing, but they could have more respectful and honest.

First i wouldnt sign any contracts in Colombia. Second I dont think they have to power to affect her leaving Colombia for USA, sounds like a bluff. Third if you dont want to deal with them then offer them a small amount of money as a payoff, buy them off cheap and move on. |
