Did you meet her via the internet at a site like Seeker mentioned, www.colombiansweethearts.com? Title: Re: ¿How did U meet her? Post by: Dan Las Vegas on April 17, 2005, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to ¿How did U meet her?, posted by nocomment on Apr 17, 2005
I met her on Amigos.com We have been corresponding now for three months, she seems like a winner so far, however, I have yet to meet her in person. So I want to be prepared as seeker said, with plan a, b,c,d if necessary. That is why I wanted the info on colombian sweethearts. Dan Title: Re: Re: ¿How did U meet her? That's how I met my wife from Medellin. I highly recommend amigos. I corresponded with her for two months before I met her in person and three months later we got married. It's been over a year and a half of marriage and it's great! I hope it goes the same way for you, Dan. Title: Re: Re: Re: ¿How did U meet her? Thanks, I appreciate your kind words! It is always good to hear a success story! How did you like Medellin? did you feel relatively safe in Medellin? I lived in the middle east for a time and while I was not overly concerned about my safety, I did keep an eye out and avoided certain areas. I found that the news media tended to exaggerate incidents all out of proportion to what actually happened. I would appreciate any thoughs you might have on this subject. I liked Medellin especially the area where my wife lives in a part of Belen near Laureles. We can walk around the neighborhood until about 9 at night when I have to take taxis. They may be overly cautious but that's ok. You may be arriving in Medellin at Rio Negro airport about 9 or so in the evening. You don't need to worry - the airport road is very safe and heavily patrolled. I'll be in Medellin in May for a couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for my reports. On my previous visit to Medellin, I spent most of my time meeting women at the agency colombiansweethearts.com. However, during my free time I went to shopping malls like San Diego or Tesoro. On dates, I enjoyed going out dancing to places like Calle 54?, where there were a couple of blocks of small nightclubs bursting with great music and people. Club Mangos was often mentioned, but I never made it. The area of El Poblado provides upscale entertainment and is a great place to go on a date. I once went to a restaurant/bar named Ave Maria and it was great. I visited many historic sights like churches and museums, like the Museo de Antioquia showcasing Botero's collection in the heart of downtown and the interactive museum. In August you'll be there for the Feria de las Flores/Desfile de Silleteros which is a highlighted as one of the most unique of Colombian festivals. Therefore, make hotel arrangements early. You can always go watch a soccer game or go horseback riding. When you get a chance, visit a local bookstore and look for Footprint's Colombia Handbook by Peter Pollard or check out Lonely Planet's Colombia guide. They are excellent resources to get a general sense of what you can do in and around Medellin. In May, I hope to visit Santa Fe de Antioquia and Jardin which are smaller towns in Antioquia. Pablo wrote an excellent travel report on Jardin which you can search for in the archives. Lastly, but most importantly, have a plan B and a plan C in case things don't work out with this woman. You ought to know within a couple of days if you should pursue her or move on. Don't hesitate to move on, because your days in Colombia are extremely valuable. What kind of deal did you cut with colombiansweethearts.com? Did you set up the dates down there? I gather from your post that you are fluent in Spanish. I didn't cut any special deal with Steve at colombiansweethearts, but rather, I got my money's worth in terms of professional and friendly service, reliable and abundant dates, and a clean and safe accomodations. Dolly, Steve's housekeeper, once brought out wine and a candle for a date in the evening. These are the special details that earned my loyalty towards CSH. I am fluent in Spanish and thought I would give match.com international a try, while I waited to return to Colombia. I'm looking forward to meeting a very special woman in a few weeks, but I do have Plan B, Plan C, etc. This will be my 5th trip to Colombia and I've learned that Plan A doesn't always work out. Thanks for information! I'll be looking for your trip reports. What were your thoughts on the agency you used? Again, thanks for your help Title: Re: Re: Re: Recommendations on things to do in Medellin Post by: Seeker on April 17, 2005, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Re: Recommendations on things to do ..., posted by Dan Las Vegas on Apr 17, 2005
I was very pleased with CSH. Please search the archives for my lengthy CSH report. CSH enjoys an agency monopoly in Medellin, unless you consider the Playboy Mansion a serious competitor; which I don't. However, Steve has not allowed the lack of competition in Medellin to be an excuse for poor service, etc. My very positive opinion of CSH is based on having used All Colombian Girls, Latin Encounters and Latin Best in Cali, which is not to imply that I wasn't happy with the Cali agencies. At Steve's agency I enjoyed a delicious breakfast and lunch. Let's not forget the unlimited free beer. I really appreciated that cold one after walking home from the nearest metro stop. Perhaps others who stayed at CSH more recently would like to comment, since I stayed there in Jan. '04. |
