Hi Ray,

Well...except for that "a guy who is honest, humble" and "a little humor also goes a long way" parts. ;o))) I met my wife through her younger sister and brother-in-law, with whom I have a mutual friend. I think my sister-in-law did an NBI style investgation on me. ;o) Amazing how I slipped through the cracks. ;o))) It's been great for both of them, to have each other here. My brother-in-law has also been invaluable throughout the courtship and adjustment process.

Hi Captain.  Jerry sends me tapes all the time using US mail service.  I just look and last package said $8US was postage of small box.  It was not insured but if only tapes and photos that probably no need.

You will have to ask her about access to VCR and standard cassette player.  She probably can have access to them.  Also ask if VCR is VHS or BETA.

Mark package "magnetic material enclosed" as well as "fragile"

I love getting tapes and I am sure your friend will also.

Blessings,

Jean

You might be able to buy those items yourself.  But try to stay light weight, for the postage will get very expensive.

Perhaps, for one thing, buy a microcassette recorder rather than a regular cassette.  They're much smaller and compact.  I think you could buy one for about $30 or $40 (if you don't already have one, then you'd want to buy two).  Also, you should send a package of several microcassette tapes.

About VCRs, you could probably buy a VCR on sale for about $50.  I have seen basic models priced well under $100.

When I periodically send packages to Analyn, the postage itself generally costs between $25 and $35.  I've sent T-shirts, stuffed animals, disposable cameras, diskettes and candles before.  You must be concious of the weight adding up, depending on what articles you send.  It would probably cost more in postage to send a VCR.

Well, about postage, my suggestion is fill-out a pink international return-receipt card at the post office.  She'll have to sign the card, if and when she receives the package, and the card with her signature will be returned to you.  You'll have to fill out a customs form.  You should also insure the articles for their declared value.  And above that, yhe international postage rate for third-class is added to the postage cost.

I am guessing that it might be difficult for her to find
a neighbor with a VCR.
One suggestion is to put it on a CD.   Internet cafes are
everywhere, and most only charge about 50 cents or so an hour.
