Hello Listers,
I just returned from Recife where I spent Christmas. I hope the holiday season is treating everyone well. I am in a VERY good mood because my Christmas was excellent!. I feel the need to spread some cheer by starting my trip report before the New Year.
The part of the trip that included Miami went badly. The TAM flight I was booked on was cancelled. What had happened was that the previous day the 2 TAM flights from Sao Paulo to Miami were both cancelled. This left no planes in Miami for the Miami to Sao Paulo flights. The Brazil bound flight the previous niught was canceled and the Brazil bound morning flight that I was booked on was also cancelled. However, at 8 am as I was being told this, the 2 prior Miami bound flights were both en route to Miami. The flights were later re-instated. My 9:15 am flight eventually departed Miami at 4:10 pm, a 7 hour delay, and arrived in SP at 4 am local time, instead of the scheduled 8 pm.
During the delay, we were treated, for several hours, to the filming of a movie in Miami airport called "The Boynton Beach Bereavement Club" . Though I didn't see them, the featured actors apparently included Sally Kellerman and another 70's era actress, possibly Valerie Harper. We were also given vouchers for lunch and a hotel room.
Most other passengers missed connecting flights in SP. I didn't because my connection to Recife was leaving at 9:30 am. I had expected to spend an overnight in SP but I actually spent just a few hours hanging out in the airport.
My namorada met me at the Recife airport. We chose a hotel close to where she lived. After freshening up and changing clothes, I met her at her house and we started catching up on things since my last trip.
