My family arrives today...

...with her two daughters after a visa process that took almost a year.  During 2004, we have spent 20 days together and about 340 apart.  I met her in Costa Rica in August 2003 and we lived together four months so I know her and her daughters well.  I will probably post monthly updates as to how we’re doing but.  

Living in Costa Rica with my wife we have already experienced some of the challenges in reverse with me being the one in an alien culture.  Many times she reminded me that I wasn’t in the US and that things were different in Costa Rica.  I feel the fact that we know each other well will help us and I think she understands the challenges she will face.  

They’re getting to Phoenix about 1PM and we’re going to a revolving restaurant in downtown (to razzle dazzle them a little) then buying coats, bathrobes and slippers.  Phoenix hardly ever gets below 50 in the winter but for people who come from the land of the eternal springtime, I will hear “Tengo frio” a lot.  

Thanks you all for your kind words and support. I have benefited greatly from your advise, experiences and camaraderie.  I’ll try and post monthly reports about how things are going.

Congratulations to you and your new family! I've enjoyed your optimistic and helpful posts. I think the way you've gone about things is probably the best; mainly, move to the country and seek the woman of your dreams. I do look forward to your monthly reports and please keep them real. Not everything has to be perfect, but how you manage to bridge those differences will be interesting and helpful. Buena suerte!
