To spew statistics and speculate.Who was the ex senator that used to have an award for the most absurd contract given out by the US governmenmt?I forgot his name.
Proof there is still alot of Pork and BS in the federal budget.
And how do yet get such a contract?Probably by being politically correctly connected.
And,is there really such a thing as a mail order bride, one that shows up beeing sent to you that you have never met?
Sorry Patrick but I hate the name of this web site and its not accurate.

Excellent stuff!

I liked a few of these:

"The key issue, though, is who initiates this cycle of violence. Steinmetz, Strauss and Gelles found to their initial surprise that women are more likely to be the first initiators. Why? In part, the belief that men can take it - - they can therefore be a punching bag and not be expected to hit back."

"...when 54% of women in lesbian relationships acknowledge violence in their current relationship, vs. only 11% of heterosexual couples reporting violence, I realized that domestic violence is not an outgrowth of male biology."

"Men and children may not report when they are injured by a woman, however, the dead bodies of the men and children who are the victims of violent women are usually reported. Murder statistics are far more reliable than reported abuse statistics.

1.  In spouse murders, women represented 41 percent of killers."
2.  In murders of their offspring, women predominated, accounting for 55 percent of killers."
3.  Among black marital partners, wives were just about as likely to kill their husbands as husbands were to kill their wives: 47 percent of the victims of a spouse were husbands and 53 percent were wives."

"This is a long way from the feminist claim that "men are responsible for 90% of family violence". Those who quote law enforcement statistics to support the "male villain-female victim" dogma are either misled or deliberately attempting to mislead. We have been scammed!"

I agree.  Kinda wish Spam Club would come back and check out some of these recent posts.

He still under the illusion...

In case anyone thinks that feminism is a hopeless boondoggle (as I have on occasion), do a Google search on Tammy Bruce.  She is a lesbian writer/talk-show host/public speaker who used to be the chairwoman for the Los Angeles chapter of NOW.  She appeals to a lot of conservative people (though she's labeled a 'classic' or 'JFK' style liberal), and is among the most enlightened, fair-minded speakers around.  She is the anti-Michael Moore.  Same party (though Moore will deny it), different ends of the scale.

Doing a search under Tammy Bruce I also discovered some other interesting people, likeLarry Elder.I wasn't aware of him.I wish again I got Fox News here where people with points of view you never find in the mains stream media get interviewed.
To me its just balence. Some people not considered politically correct have alot to say and we never see them on the main stream media.

I think Larry Elder has his own program now on daytime television.  Sort of another low-key Alan Keyes type, and someone who molds sense from the madness.  You might also find Michelle Malkin very interesting.  She's a Filipina-American columnist who has some major cajones, too.  Her primary focus is illegal immigration (and she's a hottie!)

Elder's website:  http://www.larryelder.com/

Malkins:  http://www.michellemalkin.com/

I've been tempted to buy Elder's book (very controversial topics/views, though).  Check out a synopsis:  http://www.larryelder.com/larrysbooks.html

I often listen to Michael Savage.  More lowbrow than the others mentioned.  Sometimes he's a little to loud and self-promoting (and not a very good writer), but the core of what he's hitting at has drawn a huge following.

I think people like Bruce, Malkin, Elders, Keyes, and Salvage--all in their own way--are one of the major reasons why the left was upset this past November.  It seems more compelling and admirable considering their diversity of age, gender, race, and sexual preference.

All of those that you listed are good. I don’t think Savage is lowbrow he is probably the smartest in the bunch and I find him the most entertaining. I however don’t agree with him as often as I do the others he knows how to agitate and not all of his views are consistent. Another excellent, intellectual radio host is Dennis Prager. I read Elder’s good book and use to listen to him regularly but that tapered off. Anyone that lives in Southern California  should get the Orange County Register great editorials and these two guys Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell are often in there.

Larry also has a daily radio show. It's here in the LA area (Pacific time) between 3 & 6 PM and is syndicated all over the US. I listen to it daily on my commute. His book, the 10 things you can't say in America is excellent akso. Don't forget other prominent black columnists like Walter Williams and my favorite, Thomas Sowell (a phd in economics.) Michelle Malkin has also been one of my favories for years.

You're right about this past November. No longer does all the information get passed through three TV anchors, and three or four major newspapers, all with a singular point of view. There are all sorts of other avenues for discussion and analysis, cable news, talk radio and the internet.

Thanks for the recommends.

Sowell has a page of his favorite quotes.  I kinda dug this one; it could easily apply to many past and present world leaders (or just many people in general):

"Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves."
-- T. S. Eliot

While scouting on the web for Sowell, came across this nifty little condensed list of columnists and such:

... in response to Government Report Rgarding "Mail Or..., posted by Zorrowins on Dec 20, 2004

"It is interesting to note that, based largely on data provided by the agencies themselves (along with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas report cited above), marriages arranged through these services [international marriage services] would appear to have a lower divorce rate than the nation as a whole, fully 80 percent of these marriages having lasted over the years for which reports are available."

Yet, this Mila Glodava and Richard Onizuka appear to have inserted lots of opinion, passed off as 'research':

"...those who have used the mail-order bride route to find a mate have control in mind rather than a loving and enduring relationship."

"Older men, says Glodava, often want women 'they can mold' and therefore do not want those who are too educated. 'They would just become like any other American woman,' they said. She concludes that, 'It is apparent that power and control are critical for the men.'"

A bitter, biased gringa on a mission?  Can the federal government be more gullibe.

More amusement:

"While no national figures exist on abuse of alien wives, there is every reason to believe that the incidence is higher in this population than for the nation as a whole. Authorities agree that abuse in these marriages can be expected based on the men's desire for a submissive wife and the women's desire for a better life."

So, despite any figures or evidence, the OPINION of some "authorities" should be sufficient proof that the 'mail-order bride' industry (international marriages) needs to be regulated or curtailed.

"While many state a desire for a submissive wife, they find that such dependence becomes a burden. To provide some relief, the husband seeks ways (friends, activities) that will get the wife 'out of the house' on occasion. The resulting independence then angers the husband who manifests the anger on the wife, who may have only been guilty of trying to please her husband."

Thank you Mila and Uma Narayan (another opinion-ater) for that extensive research (and despite "no national figures on abuse of alien wives").

Spam Club's earlier whining, exagerrations, and threats regarding a PL member(s) "abusing" their foreign spouse(s) shrivels predictably in this report, too.  A simple marital dispute/quarrel, some bickering and shouting, throwing dishes on the floor, hitting walls, passing wind... None of it qualifies as spousal abuse; so no free green-cards for your wife's best friends, Spam Club.

"... a bill, passed in 1990, which provided that battery [not as in Duracel or Energizer; this refers to 'pounding' or 'beating'] and extreme cruelty, if alleged and proven, could qualify a conditional resident for a waiver during the waiting period."

"The petitioner, however, must present other evidence to support the application for waiver based on a claim of having been battered or subjected to extreme cruelty. Evidence may include, but is not limited to, expert testimony in the form of reports and affidavits from police, judges, medical personnel, school officials and social service agency personnel. The Service must be satisfied with the credibility of the sources of documentation submitted in support of the application."

First of all, if there is no reliable statistical information, all that talk about men desiring 'control' vs love or that they want to 'mold' these girls is just pure speculation - or, as it is called in English language, BS.

Secondly, why would an individual who primarily wants to marry a girl who is necessarily much younger and meek go to Colombia?  Of course meekness is an individual trait, but it is rare in Latin women.  Very rare.  So this argument just does not make sense at all, same as suggesting that people who move to Alaska do so b/c they prefer hot weather.

Thirdly, if someone actually DOES want a meek and submissive girl, then their only option is to convert to islam and move into the region.  I don't want to offend anyone here by saying this, but that's the truth.  And if someone out there just have to cruzade for the rights of women, that's where they should concentrate.
