My I130 Immigrant petition for relative (spouse) was filed in Nebraska office July 12, 2004.  The Notice of Action stated that my case would be decided between 650-680 days. On October 29, 2004, Nebraska transfered my case to California "in order to speed processing" the Notice of Action claimed. I talked to USCIS on the phone and they informed as to how much quicker California would be and that this means i am close, and a decision should be made within 2 months. Last week i went to the USCIS Case Status site(https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/caseStat.jsp;jsessionid=efWi0gejqFp6)
and received this notice:

On October 29, 2004, your I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E) was received here for processing. It is taking between 990 and 990 days for us to process this kind of case.

What do you suppose is going on? It appears not only that the process time increased but that i was put in back of the line with this transfer.

... in response to 990 Days for Spousal Visa?, posted by Johnboy on Dec 10, 2004

Johnboy,

No, it will not take 990 days.  The I130 is for various relatives; the processing time is fastest for a spouse; slowest for a sibbling. The 990 is just a worst-case default timeline.  Don't worry about that.

Expect your approval in about 1 month.  Mine took just under 1 month.

I filed my I-130 for my wife with the Texas Service Center. Back in late August I received a notice that it had been transferred to the California Service Center. It was approved about a month later. Don't worry, you haven't been sent to the back of the line, in spite of what the Case Status site says.
