Hello guys!  I am very new to this, and got interested you can say by accident.  I stumbled across your board, and I was glad to find a source of a potentially useful information.

Here is my question.  Has anyone dealt with Cali's Best? (calisbest.com).  I have purchased a few addresses from Latins Social Network, and basically I was overwhelmed with response which was a lot lot lot better than I could expect.  My main reservation about Calis Best is that they don't seem to offer e-mails, and most of their photos are the same as Latin Encounters, a service which has a siginificantly higher advertised price.

And is it reasonably safe to go there without some sort of tour?  My spanish is reasonable, and in general I can get by without an interpreter.

Also, if in theory I will go in late February/ early March, what's the weather like?  I have friends from Bogota, and they say it's rather cold there all the time, but Cali seems to be a bit lower and warmer, judging by photos and how women dress Wink

I will appreciate your response.  Thank you in advance.

Thunderbolt,

For your 1st trip I reccomend staying at an agency.  Latin Encounters, All Colombian Women, Cali VIP... Whatever.  They will pick you up at the airport and take care of you.  You will be staying in the middle of the action.  After you feel comfortable, you can move out of the agency and get a room some place.

I have been married to a girl I met at Latin Encounters for 3 years.

Have fun and don't rush.

You can do what ever you feel confortable with.  If your spanish is decent try
to set up a head of time the woman you wish to visit. I know there are some
guys here that can recommmend a hotel to stay at. Several of the men live
there.. ie pete

If your Spanish is passable and you can get by without an interpreter, you are completely out of your mind if you do not got to Medellin. Of course if getting some and partying are all you are interested in, then you should probably skip Medellin. If you are looking for a wife, it can't be beat. You don't need an agency - just go there and circulate como mi amigo, Pablo. The guy has died and gone to heaven!

I believe there is an inverse correlation between your ability to communicate in Spanish and your need to purchase expensive services.  Your facility in Spanish will be your biggest asset.  The abiltiy to speak Spanish will make you more desirable to almost all the women.

Bogota is cold due to its elevation and Cali has mostly springlike weather.  The big deal with the agencies is to contact them and see which one offers the most personal attention.  You will meet more top quality women in a week in Colombia than in a year in the US and all agencies will introduce you to women.

Hard as it is to do while still in the US, I suggest you don't fall in love with a web site becasue some women are unavailable or might not be available when you get there.  If an agency cares about helping you meet lots of women that's the best you can ask for.

Good luck.

and take your time! There's no need to rush this process. Ask questions (publically or privately) of those you see posting here. You have a leg up on many who start out, just with your command of Spanish. Every agency that you've looked at so far, has been visited by someone here. Every method (Writing first, visiting w/o writing, Tours) has been done many times by members here. Hit the archives for the good & bad experiences of each method...

In regards to safety....just use the same common sense, that you would use in visiting "anywhere" for the first time.

I would recommend that you focus on getting to know the ladies that responded to you on the Latins Social Network.
It is easy to get overwhelmed by the beauty and warmth of the ladies because there is nothing like it in the USA.
The difficulty is remainig cool, calm and collected enough to maintain your ability to exercise good judgement.
If you take the time to really get to know the ladies who have contacted you, it is likely that you will make fewer
rookie mistakes when you get to Colombia.
For a first visit,I would recommend Cartagena or Barranquilla over Cali. The ladies in Cali have a great deal of experience with regard to dealing with gringos.
There is a great deal of good advice on this board and if you take it to heart you will be well prepared for a successful trip.
Buena Suerte.
