For anyone visiting Cali who is on a SERIOUSLY LIMITED budget, I would recommend the Hostal Casa Centenario, Avenida 1 Norte, No.2-23   (680-38-95). It's across the street from the Hotel Intercontinental. It has clean rooms and a small restaurant. The staff (all female) is friendly. For 45,000 pesos a night. Hey, it's a roof over your head while in Cali. Later.

I rent rooms with bath for $35 a night.Thats about 85,000 pesos but no tax,free laundry,breakfast and lunch,computer and telephone including free calls to the US.4 bedrooms,5 baths,2 living rooms,library,TV room,5000 sq ft patio with private jacuzzi.
When I stayed at travelors suites it was $45 a night but usually cost me $60-$65 when I paid my bill with tax laundry and phone.
Its also a great place to bring girls,5 points when they walk through the door.Plus Cali vets around to advise and console.Breakfast to plan the day,beer on the patio to rehash how it went.Colombiano helper who can get about anything you want at a good price plus translate.
