Author Topic: Troy and Phoenix have an audience  (Read 4542 times)

Without coming off as a peace broker, I've found many of the posts submitted by Troy and Phoenix to be valuable, entertaining, or a mix of both.

Troy met a lady from Peru and had begun posting snipits of his experiences here a while back.  I found many of them relevant and interesting, and would often compare them against my own experiences while in Peru.  Since most people here post on topics related to Colombia, it was refreshing to come across his (and other's) remarks about this other great haven of culture (and women!)

And as much as Phoenix's experiences are tangential to my own with regards to Latin women, his sometimes rambling posts read as diary entries.  They don't appear to be provoking people, for the most part.  And they often seem self-critical enough without outside help.  Within them, though, there are bits and pieces of caution and humor for many to partake.  And the previous remarks he made about his girlfriend's census profile concerns seemed a simple observation, nothing more.  I hope I'm not the only one who didn't sense even the slightest hint of hidden motive.

Stick to your original formula, guys.  You got side-tracked too easily by some ugly stuff.

I enjoy reading posts from any contributer who has experience anywhere in LA and shares it.

A few people here take the Internet too seriously.  None of us knows each other from the ideas we post on Planet Love.  There is no proof that anything we say is true.  All that counts is our opinions.

Our opinions are not what counts.  Its the reasons which form those opinions.  Why don't you start by telling us the reasons why you think Petey and papi are heroic?

I agree I chose the wrong word...I consider them honest people who make frequest contributions.  This is the second time I have said this same thing.

Opinions / reasons for those opinions are both important.  What is totally silly is the few people here who want to get into personal wars with people they don't know.

Why in the world do you come on Planet Love if you don't have anything to share about your experience in LA?  That's the purpose of this forum and everyone here except you talks about LA.

I tend to agree with you.  I don't think Troy or Phoenix are malicious people.  For my part, I don't ever recall personalizing things much.

When a person solicits intellectual or emotional support for an issue like racial discrimination, and then proceeds to make  hateful statements themselves, they deserve whatever follows.

Its hard to respect someone who makes a racially divisive statement, and cannot even recongnize it (much less defend it).  This is a forum of words and ideas; we lack many of the subtleties of verbal cueing and body language with which we might comprehend eachother better.

Let me put it another way.  Phoenix (Clay) has made some very rough and divisive racial comments.  If I agree with you that he does not do it with malicious intent, then that leaves ignorance as the cause.  And, frankly, my Mommy taught me to resist ignorance wherever I found it in life.

The very idea that a person can say: "I am a victim of ignorance, and you are part of the problem because you have never been a victim of ignorance" is simply sad.  It demonstrates genuine self-absorption.  Every member of this board has been treated with ignorance.  We would not be busting our collective rear-ends to cross thousands of miles of pyshical and cultural barriers to find mates if we were not exhausted from being treated poorly.

So, you are asking me to some of let Phoenix's comments go because he is "an accidental racist who can't help himself", I guess I can try.

Ciao

Nah...I've seen enough of Clay's M.O. over the years to know, that he has been & can be malicious with his some of his remarks. Unless one accepts his views totally (no names need to be mentioned...lol), he'll piss on you for taking exceptions to his views & ones attempts to help him. Clay ain't ignorant...Stuck on Stupid definitely, but not ignorant..lol!

I don't read the Asian board and therefore have no knowledge of what he may have said there.

I understand that the other boards may be of interest to someone who is searching for a wife.  In my case, being fluent in Spanish, I never was interested in anywhere besides Latin America.

I think that those of us who go between several boards, should keep their arguements on the board on which they originate.  We have enough things to discuss witht the items which are posted on the latin board.
