I almost had to take my computer out to the backyard and shoot it. However, thanks to my recently immigrated Chinese neigbor, my computer is now better than new.

If any of you ever need to establish a secure, practical, and inexpensive method of sending money internationally, I strongly recommend the ikobo card. Find out more by going to ikobo.com .

The initial set-up takes a few days. Essentially, an ikobo card is delivered through DHL to the person's home address. Once she receives it, you can call her and give her the PIN number for extra security. You will be charged for the DHL delivery, but the first transaction is free. She can withdraw the funds from any ATM with the VisaPlus sign.

Anyways, don't even mention this card to "girlfriends." However, if you are sending money regularly to fiancees or your wife's family, it may save you and them from headaches.

ikobo states that the exchange dates fluctuate daily based on the current official exchange rates. When you process a request, ikobo gives you an approximate value of exchange. Sorry, I can't be more specific. I previously sent $125. I was charged $5. My girlfriend was charged $1.50 for using the ATM. The great thing about ikobo is that it covers almost every country in the world.

i would be hesitant unless they tell yu exactly the exchange. When you order via Western Union including online they tell you the payout in the local currency. For example, when you charge dollars to send to Colombia - they list the exact payout in pesos. How do you know Ikobo is not taking a huge cut on the exchange if they dont list the payout? Western Union is not cheap but at least yu know what you are getting for the money unless i am missing something here. i guess yu can send some money and find out if they give a fair exchange

iKobo's website tells you what the rate will be for whatever ever amount you plan to send.  I use it monthly to wire funds to my wife.  She gets an email confirmation of it.  She can use the card at almost any ATM.  It is instantaneously submitted, linked to my bank account, and the rates are much better than the other services.

No catch/scam; very efficient and reliable.

Peace out!
