Things have been a little slow on the board so I decided to do a count of the number of posts by each poster (as of 5 minutes ago):

46 Pete E
26 papi
14 Locii
11 kented
9 Fuzzyone
9 Troy
7 burbuja2
6 zack
6 Karl
6 Phoenix
5 DallasSteve2 (now 6)
5 Irmao
5 Rebel

Everyone else was 3 posts or less.

There's not much surprise in who's number one, but the question is why?  When I was in Cali I posted here maybe twice.  I found a few other things to keep me occupied there.

... in response to Top Posters, posted by DallasSteve2 on Sep 9, 2004

All of the boards I have been on seem to have a similar distribution.  You have a dozen or less that post all the time, then the distribution rapidly falls off... with the vast majority being lurkers.  I think it has to do with rules of social organization.  The few top posters who are heavily emotionally committed to a particular topic develop an old-boys network where they mutually reinforce each others bull... a newbie posts occasionally and is ignored ... so doesn’t post again.  An outside group is formed which is not validated when they post.  You could scientifically measure the old-boys network by the level of chitchat, i.e., the informationless chatter the old boys fling at each other to validate themeselves.  So, for example... a newbie can submit a detailed ten page report on the agencies in Cali and gets 0 responses, whereas a member of the clique says “Hey, Joe nice to have seen you at the party last night... how is your hangover” and he gets 20 responses.  So, the member of the clique gets significant validation for punching out 15 seconds of commentary and the newbie  who invested 3 hours of time in his report is ignored.  You can think up your own examples.  I am sure there are many PHD Thesis out there on this subject.  From my observations of several years, Planet Love has always fallen on the high end of being an exclusionary group.

Interesting post. Just think, had you done your assessment two months ago, Gregass would have been on the top, if not 2nd or third. However,in terms of quality of posts, he would rank at the very bottom.

Some might even call it an infotaining quantitative analysis.  If you feel so inclined, please be so kind as to prepare a similar qualitative analysis. No need to be modest.

Steve,
What time period is this?I have posted alot the last week or so,since I got back from Medellin.Even today lots of back and forth with Papi and our guy in Key west.
I have about 16 waking hours a day so this doesn't start to take them up.But I am between serious girlfriends right now.

And this is no 50.I guess I have been busy here which means I have not been elsewhere.
Point well taken.I even bore myself sometimes sitting around posting when I am not doing something else.I guess this would be one of those days.It wasn't that there was a burning desire to post anything,I was just doing it because I wasn't doing anything else.
I was kind of waiting around for some things to happen that didn't come through, right up untill an hour or so when some plans got cancelled as in someone did not show.
It was something that bothered my last girlfriend. She would come over, say what did you do today?I didn't have much to report.
I guess I blame the influence on my mother, the worlds greatest procrastinator. The difference between her and me is she could do nothing all day and think she was busy.I know damnn well when I don't do nothing all day.
But then I avoid structure because I don't want to get forced in to some time schedule.
Change needed.I will think about it tommorow.Actually there is alot going to happen tomorrow. Some friends hitting town.I better set something up for us to do.They will only be here 2 days.Maybe they are in trouble. No,I will get with it when there is a plan,

make that 27. i quit working just under a year ago and probably spending too much time on the PC. I am supposed to start back this month but i am totally not ready for it. think i'm ready to join the top poster down in the promised land. here i cant get a date - down there i'm Brad Pitt. not sure why things have to be that way here in the good ol USA but at least we have an oasis south of the border to keep us busy (and away from the PC). at least i to stick with the spirit of the forum and try to share ideas on places to stay, agencies, visa info, etc. too bad we cant talk about mongering - i'd have a lot more to write about (just kidding). cheers Dallas
