Marriage Visa

I live in Detroit. I had to make the 2 hour drive to my state Capital in Lansing to get an Apostille (did i spell that right? the word's not even in the g/d dictionary) for certain notarized documents--ummmm...my divorce decree, police clearance, birth certificate etc..  All this stuff had to be translated prior. I paid $50 per page.  The little haglet behind the Office of the Great Seal counter would not accept one of my notary's signatures because it didn't match the registered signature on file (middle initial was missing). I had to make a second trip back out to Lansing that afternoon. I still had to make the 5 hour drive to the Colombian Consulate in Chicago. No one in Barranquilla asked for my marriage visa--not one church official or clergy member, nor the city clerk afterwords when applying for the marriage certificate. Will some other prestigious official down the line at INS request it? Someone please tell me i need this g/d marriage visa.

INS in Nebraska

I am still friggin' confused about this k-3 crap. I purchased the cheaper $150 visa package from Cherry Blossoms, and did everything myself. Can't decide if i made the right choice. There were at least 4 contradictory items/errors in their "simple, step by step instructions", and they claim a 35 year existence. Anybody been there? The Nebraska paperwork featuring the I-134 (right?) takes about 2 years to process? What does this bring us? a green card? what is a green card exactly?

INS in Chicago

I just received my "Receipt Notice" from filing my I-129F Petition on 7-26-04. This gets her here on a temporary basis while i wait for the other crap to process? How long is this process? Why do these two sets of paperwork go to two different places? Should i be expecting a bill for YOUR help now? (-:

thank you

You had a church ceremony, but no civil ceremony with a notaria???

I guess your step-by-step instructions from Cherry Blossoms weren't that accurate...

The USCIS doesn't recognize church ceremonies as proof of marriage, only notarized civil ceremonies... The notary is the one who asks for the marriage visa...

Your problems are just begining...

You may be ok if you registered your Catholic Church ceremony with the civil authoriites and you can produce a registro civil for your marriage. The USCIS is not interested in any documents from the Catholic Church - they want to see the registro civil - if you can somehow get that (and get it translated into english) that is enough.

That was what I was trying to find out without getting attacked for asking too
many questions..... I was told when I was in Barranquilla that the catholic
church was harder then the notary to get married....

The I129f is supposed to get her here quicker than the I-130 but don't hold your breath.  My I129F receipt date is Feb 25 and they are processing about one day every two weeks.  I was four weeks away in May and now (three months late) I am two weeks away.

If they continue to process two weeks every three month, your I129F will be looked at in the middle of 2006.

There is really no reason to pay someone for help.  The requirements are straighjtforward and clearly explained.  The only problem is BCIS considers our wives terrorists.

It is not real clear what you are asking.... What kind of church did you get
married at? Did you ever get married thru a Notory?
