Has anyone been to the visa interview in Bogota since April,2004?How long after the interview before you actually had the visa in hand?
I am waiting for my appointment date and am trying to figure out how long to stay in Bogota after the interview.Thanks.

I heard that they are not issueing the visa same day or next day like in the past. Now they are mailing the passport to your wife (approximately 10days). They got rid of open interviews and now they have screwed with the visa stamp.

Are you going K1 orK3?

My buddy just went through the process. They will mail your fiancees passport with the visa to her. It will add an additional 5-10 dys of waiting.

When did you send in the Package 3 document?

I would plan on an interview date of approximately 60-70 days after they recieve package 3.  After april 1, bogota really messed things up.

It used to be a real nice process where once you got your paperwork done, you could get the whole thing done in a week (medical, lab, interview, photos, visa payment, picking up the visa). Now it's an extra month or two!

I am caught in the new red tape at this moment. I received an email directly from the embassy stating the interview date will be 60-90 days after receiving packet 3. In my case it has been over 3 weeks and my fiancee still has not received packet 3. They responded to my first two emails and even responded that thay sent out the packet. However, after checking with the local company on San Andres where my girl is from, there have been no packages from Bogota recently. I emailed several times after getting this info and have not received another response from the embassy. My guess is that they are really backed up and now don't even have the decency to say so. Maybe they will get the routine down to a manageable level in the near future, but for now it is beaureucratic hell.

You might have to send her to the embassy and pick up the package in person. If you do not have it by now,it got lost in the mail.My fiancee received her package #3 only 14 days after our petition reached Bogota.Good luck.

This happened to us and several others. If she has not gotten the packet within a couple of weeks, it is LOST. Send someone to get it with an authorization letter and the embassy file number (BOG2004xxxxx).

Thanks for the advice! I am happy to report that today we finally received packet 3. A fellow lister just received an August 27th interview date two weeks after sending in packet 3. Looks like the middle of Sept for us. Take care guys.

How long did it take to get your petition to Bogota from NVC? And how long was it between when they received your packet back and your interview date? Thanks

I filed the application 12/17/03.It was approved 5/21/04.
The NVC sent it to Bogota 6/1/04.Bogota received it 6/2/04.
My fiancee received package #3 on 6/16/04.We are still waiting for package #4 & the interview date.

I was wondering if this is true across the board for all K1 &K3 visa's issued from any consulate ,or this applies only to the Bogota ,Colombia embassy.
