Guys, I think its great that guys going through the mess with the K1 and K3 are providing help. For the newbies out there, the process will test the bond of the relationship with your lady. It is important that a discussion board such as this be constructive in nature. Too many times we have seen guys putting each other down and moaning about this and that on this site. It is to bad grown man cannot remember what they should have learned in kindergarden.

Anyway, two decent sites are visajourney and the british expats forum.  You will read about incredible stories of visa BS.

Be prepared, our government will treat you like trash and your tax dollars do not mean anything to them.  The new agency that is protecting us from the bin ladens of the world are also responsible for the visa reviews.  It scares me thinking the agency that is protecting the public needs 3 weeks just to tell you they recieved your application.

Just when people thought it could not slow down any further, the K3 approvals have almost come to a halt. It is now taking 14 days to process 2-3 days of applications. They are getting further and further behind.  Furthermore, as of April 1st, the Bogota embassy have even managed to make the process longer (K1 or K3).

It I had to do it all over again, I would do a K1 and make sure it is processed in the Vermont office. The employees are on "pay-for-performance" and are known to actually take applications home with them to work on.

For the newbies, you have selected a long hard road, but it will be well worth it with the right lady.

How do you know these particulars? you are one man with a single experience.  For every sad story there is a good one. Sorry the process went bad for you, but don't break "newbies" balls over it.

thank you

Well stated, Gator! Wow, I guess that explains Vermont's outstanding performance. And you are SO right - it is all worth it for the right woman!

A friend of mine married a Latina in Bogota almost one year ago and she is still not in the USA. The K3 is much slower than before, as you said.

You are right in the respect that this new process will really test the bond of a relationship. In that light it isn't all bad.
An allowance of tolerance and remembrance that this is a public forum will preclude one from expecting too much and for all to behave 'like adults.' All opinions should at the very least be tolerated.
BTW, I wish you the best with your agency. Great work!
