Salvador

Once settled into my hotel, I tried to contact ladies I wanted to meet.  I was having about as much success as I did in BH.  Out of service telephone numbers and closed email accounts were the rule rather than the exception.  One woman I was able to contact by phone explained that she had already found a boyfriend.   Another had responded by email that she had already found a boyfriend.  I was able to reach two others home but the ladies weren't at home.  I left messages for them to call me if they were interested in meeting me.  I also tried to contact ladies I had met on my previous trip.  Most had disconnected phones and emails but I was able to contact and meet two.

The next day I met the first lady on this trip to Salvador and she was a lady I had met last year.  We were not compatible then and are not compatible now but we remained friends.  She was now only concerned about getting a job in the US and asked me to try to find contacts for her.  She was very disappointed in President Lula because he had promised many things including jobs for people but had delivered on only a few of them.  I asked her how her search for a foreign man was going and, boy oh boy, did she have a story to tell!!!

This lady was quite attractive and had a bikini picture on Latin Euro.  She had received several hundreds of letters over 3 or 4 years or so.  Since last year, a German man had written to her and asked to her to come to Germany to visit him.  She declined.  He persisted in writing her, sending her pictures and gifts, calling her frequently on the phone.  She continued to decline his invitation to come to Germany but invited him to come to Brazil.  Eventually he accepted and set a date for coming to Salvador to meet her in person.  As the day approached she looked forward to meeting him in person too.  Then on television she sees a familiar face and hears a familiar name.  She pays closer attention and finds it is the man she is supposed to be meeting!!!!  What happened?!?!?  He is under arrest by the Brazilian Federal Police!!!!!  What is the charge?!?!?!?   Trafficking in Brazilian women and passing counterfeit American money to prostitutes!!!!!!!  She said she was utterly stunned by this!!!  In addition she became so frightened that she has not answered any letters she has received since then and says she won't answer any letters from foreign men ever again!!!!   At the time I didn't ask his name but I want to look this up on the Web.  I am writing her for his name and the German city he lives in.  I will post an update on this in the coming weeks.

The next lady I was to meet was a new one.  She had called me back to set up a rendez-vous time and place.  The time came and went with no one resembling her passing by.  A phone call to her home revealed that she needed to go someplace else at that same time. So she was a NO SHOW.  Why and how this woman can have the initiative to call me and set up a date but not have the wherewithall to call me back and say she can't make it is completely beyond me.

Your story clearly points out the risks involved for the women.

I would say that meeting women by E-mail can be one of the worst ways to go.  #1 it is so easy that they are a flood of contacts with no way of knowing who was bored on a Saturday nite and decided to write some E-mails and who sincerely wants to travel south in search of a mate.

#2 it the possibility fo compelte lies and deception.  Have you met anyone on this trip that you might want to keep in ciontact with and visit again?
