Yes, but we seem to be involved in politics here, and politics is fertile ground of impassioned opinions.  It's not that my political responses are negative, its that you don't agree with them.  There is a difference.

Troy's post was positive and historically acurate.  You may disagree with his but I don't.  People will have different views based on their politics and their education.

I think what you ment to say was "historilly accurate" based on you education (brainwashing) at the average public university.

He sounds like a joke to me.  Funny did you guys never grow up from college and the brainwashing the hippys gave you?

Oh I forgot yoou're a government teacher.

This sounds like survivalist rhetoric but I'm sure you are smarter than that.

Education is brianwashing.  Because I'm a teacher that means I am stupid.  So all teachers are brainwashed and public universities are useless.

Doesn't this sound like a Rush Limbaugh  ditto head talking???

Why do liberals seem to be so negative and divisive?  I thought they were supposed to be kind-hearted, caring individuals.  Libertarians seem so much nicer.

If a conservative  criticizes Bill Clinton, he is not being negative.  But if a liberal criticizes RR, he is being negative.

Go figure?

Kent

Your observation about conservatives criticizing Bill Clinton and liberals criticizing Ronald Reagan is an astute one, but it is not the context in which I was thinking when I asked my question.  And since my question has already been adeptly answered by the counselor from New Orleans I won't bother to explain the context to you.

Now go figure.

For the record, I'm a conservative democrat and i sometimes vote republican.  In fact, i rather like President Bush, but that's another story.  But I can see you're being amusing and sarcastic, because we all know that conservative republicans are by far the most divisive entity in america, second only to race hate groups like the KKK.

Conservatives are anti immigrant, anti civil rights (and thus, anti minority), anti womens rights, anti homosexual, anti nature, and so forth.  Liberals are not anti anybody.

Hee-hee.  Wow Troy, you really outdid yourself with this.

Let me begin by saying that I am libertarian, so I have issues with both sides.  But the idea that you say this:

"because we all know that conservative republicans are by far the most divisive entity in america, second only to race hate groups like the KKK."

...followed immediately by this!!!

"Liberals are not anti anybody."

Holy brainwashing Batman!  Where do you come up with that?

I've got news for you, conservatives are for cultural/social/fiscal conservation, as a generality.  It is interesting that you perceive the conservative belief system in exclusively negative terms; in fact that observation highlights precisely where your own personal blinders are.

Likewise, you perceive the liberal belief system in strictly positive ways (Liberals are not anti anybody.)  Again, your perception is entirely skewed.

I can clearly see where there is a negative, somewhat paranoid, component and underlying theme that emanates from the far right.  That is a very small, yet vocal, group who comprise this more or less 'fundamentalist' platform.

However, from the left I see and hear the most derisive and contemptuous laguage, ideas, and imagery; all the while they remind everyone how superior their awareness is of the human condition.  Their recent (past few elections) losses are indicative of how the public perceives the Democrats as being too far afield.  Never underestimate the collective intelligence of the american public.

America does not tolerate double standards.  I think this is why the Dems have surrendered so many political seats...their platform is RIFE with double standards, whether its Affirm. action or gay marriage, or complaining about Bush while failing to criticize Clinton for his debacles.

In any event, I am being sincere when I say you are in fact blind to the positive aspects what the far right brings, and equally blind to the hate mongering that the left is quite guilty of.

Ciao

au contrare
Liberals are only anti conservative, anti legal( they think a law is to be flouted unless they like it and it is to their advantage)case in point AA as discussed recently is not discriminatory when you are on the receiving end. But if you complain about being screwed in a promotion you are a racist.
In the early 70's a friend Grace Schaeffer filed a law suit Schaeffer vs Tannien which resulted in Police Women being placed in uniform and on the streets on an equal basis whith men. I met with the ACLU at her home  about being passed over for promotion. Their response was we understand you are being screwed but we support the method to equalize past wrongs. So much for level field it sounded more like getting even to me. But "leveling the field"  sounds so much more palatable now.
Anti womens rights--Case in point: sexual harrassment in the work place vs its only sex between consenting adults, and then their hero said it wasn't sex. Talk about May December realtionships. I am sure he wasn't taking advantage of an employee. Anti immigrant open the borders so the maid service is cheaper. Anti-minority why were the Hatians bolseros sent back home under Clinton when the Cubans were allowed to stay.

Conservatives believe the government should stay out of our lives as much as possible while Liberals want the government to control everthing. When they dont get what they want they become demigogues. Every one who doesn't agree becomes a racist homophobe. The main fault of liberals is they believe that everyone who disagrees is  undereducated  while forgetting that Reagan won by a landslide two times and was supported by the majority of the US population. Gee I am really sorry Gore did not win with an extortionist like Jessie Jackson advising him. we lost a truely interesting opportunity in social engineeering.jimc

If liberals believe government should do everything, how come Bill Clinton balanced the budget for the first time in forty years.

And if conservatives believe in small government, how come we have a five trillion dollar debt four years later.

but then again, at $750/month, you get what you pay for.  In Kented's case, it isn't much.
