I have already started the K1 fiancee visa process and they sent me a comfirmation letter of receipt and a file number.  I hope to have here with me by December.  I plan on flying over to Lima to join her for the interview.  She's upset right not because I promised to go there in April, but I changed the date when I felt I should be with her for the interview.  And I can't afford to fly to Peru twice in a few months.  And besides, I have a great fear of flying, which is another story in itself.

What USCIS service center did you file your I-129F with? Unless it was Vermont, it's going to be a looooooooong while before your petition is approved. Why not just marry in Peru and get the K-3? Probably about 6 months start to finish.

Hey Utopia,I hate to depress you but K3's are 12 months or more in Texas or California.Check the website.I decided for the fiancee visa because of that.Even at that they say 5-6 months, but the website says longer(8-10 months).sorry.

You are mistaken. ALL K-3 petitions are handled by the National Benefits Center in Missouri, NOT the regional service centers in Texas, California etc. I know this because I recently petitioned for my wife and I am going to the embassy in Bogota on Monday with her to get the visa. How long did this take me? SIX MONTHS start to finish! And that includes an extra month waiting for packet 3 from the embassy which got lost. If not for that it would have been 5 months. So you can wait all you want for the K-1. For everyone except those who are serviced by the Vermont Service Center, the K-3 is faster.
