Things are starting to look a little dicey in Cali, especially out south towards Jamundi. Apparantly the paramilitaries United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia, The AUC) are starting to show their ass.\
The family has some small fincas in a area called Barejonal, no longer working farms, but the AUC in making life difficult, to say the least.
Drug war (murders and shootings) is really starting to heat up and many are afraid it will spill over into the better areas.
I suggest you use this system to upgrade your awarness level:
Condition White-an environmential unawarness level that, for the most part, the average tourist is in when they wander about the streets. Oblivious to your surroundings and ASSUME there is no possibility of trouble.
Condition Yellow-you are relaxed but ALERT. You do not really expect trouble but are aware it can happen. Aware of what is going on in a 360 degree around. If you do this you are tuned into a signal of a threat
Condition Orange-A state of ALARM. There is probably going to be trouble and you KNOW it. You begin to form a tactical plan of action
Condition Red-All systems are GO. Flight or fight and you have to make the decision NOW. Since you will, in all probility, not be armed NOW is the time to head for the escape route determined in Condition Orange.
Most street criminals every where in the world can spot someone in Condition White and they WILL focas on that individual. Condition Yellow people are aware of their surroundings and are not wandering about in a daze. Most likely you will be passed by.
