You are right..those group tours are for the first timers that need hand holding. Purchasing "lifetime" agency  memberships are for the lifetime of the agency only...
I was a lifetime member of Latin Connections and I think you will see a lot more agencies come and go..I would just show up and negotiate a rate..they all want your business.

The only one I've heard of who won't negotiate is Latin Encounters. Well sort of...I think there was a weekly rate being offered that was about equal to the lifetime membership. Of course I've also heard second hand that some have gotten "deals" there.

But as to TLC who knows?! A neighbor girl of my wife's sister met her gringo at one and is supposed to get married soon. Too bad for him as she has admitted openly to friends and neighbors she only wants to get to America with her kid.

AhHH there's the problem,
  I agree with Calipro and Calivet (alot of calis here).
In my experience most of the party situations there you meet the bowwows (as Wayne so eloquently put it ).  The other problem is the ones with kids.  As Calivet said, "Too bad for him as she has admitted openly to friends and neighbors she only wants to get to America with her kid."

Maybe I am being a bit too cynical.  Lets have some personal
testimonys.  Anyone out there meet your novia or wife at a TLC party?  Does she have children?

I believe Patrick (the guy that runs this board) met his wife at a TLC party and they have a child together.

I have a on again, off again girlfriend in Cali who I met at a TLC tour in June of
02. Actually she lied to me about her age (said she was 24, later found out
she was 19). That said, she has no kids, a really nice family, and I'll be going
to visit in April, as I haven't seen her in a year after I broke it off due to age
differences. So  many available ladies at the parties, it is impossible to say
they are all this way or that. No complaints from me.

Anzo,  I don't know how old you are but, 19 might be a good age for you.  I met a 21 year old and she claimed she was 23.  I don't think they will do that unless they really are interested.

As is posted here in this thread... the best advice would be "Save YOUR dough$$ ".
It would be better spent at an agency.  If you're in Bogota, Nelson's LAI or ODEE - you can't go wrong!  Good Luck!

I went to a TLC party in Bogota. Overall it was a good experience but that was back in 1998. From what I hear it is still a good way to meet quality ladies. For some reason nobody has done any trip reports about a TLC tour for a while. I would be interested to hear how they are doing.

Seems like the consensus is that the parties can be interesting and the program is very well suited for those needing hand holding, but most prefer to save the dough and go directly with a source agency.
