I made a big mistake recently I tried to send a package to my
girl and I had put a box of valentine candy in the box. When
when she got the package rats got in it and ate all the candy
and smeared chocolate over everything. At least I know the
chocolate was good because they ate everything including the
card I sent in the box too.... I guess I will never send candy
again in a box. I use to use a different deliverly service but they
closed and I had to use the us mail.

I send any packages by Avianca.  It is the cheapest of all the carriers and I have never had anything touched or stolen.

Eaten?Thats a new one.But Colombian customs opens everything including UPS and Fed Ex.They will steal anything of value.I had $500 cash stolen out off a UPS envelope.I thought UPS,no problem.Wrong.At least they didn't take the documents I sent.
Mt ex sent 4 leters to relatives. She put a little money between photographs in each. She showed me, thought it was clever.2 got there, without the money. She said "those stupid people".I said they aren't so stupid, they got your money.
I could just picture them taking the rest of the day off and heading for the nearest bar when then found my $500.

So who has rats? The distribution center of the Colombian postal service (where you package probably sat for a while) or your girlfriend's home? Or maybe they were little mice? At least the image of mice is a little more pleasant.  ;-)

never sned anything to colombia by mail that you think someone will steal, or eat :-). made the same mistake once. its easier to find a web site in her city or counrty that will deliver a package, or presents,  candy, teddy bear, roses ect, its usualy cheaper also than buying it youself and sending it FEDEX, DHL, UPS or USPS.
