... in response to age, posted by chevy on Jan 31, 2004

Several years ago I used A Foreign Affair and met ladies in Cartagena.  It was my first wife search trip.  One lady I met, who was very cool (chevere) and pretty, told me that the age range she wrote for her profile was NOT the age range that actually appeared in her profile. She was mid 20's and had asked for men under 35.  Her ad said that age didn't matter.  I was too old for her though we still had a very nice date.

Point of information:  she received a dozen or so from men interested in her with only ONE from a man within her desired age range.

I have asked the women I have met at agencies about the age spread in their profiles and I believe they themselves suggest the age range that is put into their profiles.

The most important thing to remember is colombianas are not americanas. The age range in there profiles is simply a wish. It isn't criteria that must be met; like it would be if an american women put it in her profile. If the women has a very strong preference in the age of the man. The agency will usually put something like "20 - 35 (only)" in her profile.

And if you want an appointment with the women and you are older than 35, they won't make it (at least at latin encounters).

I'm going to be 42 in March and I have gone out with plenty of women that stated they were interested in the 25-35 range and I have never had a problem. I have even pressed women that I have gone out more than once as to why the put the age range of 25-35 instead of 30-45 and they usually say because they thought that's what they wanted. Some couldn't even recall what age range they put in their profiles. Just goes to show you how important it was to them.

Hi. When I met my (ex) girlfriend (in Honduras) in Summer '97, she was a year younger than me. At first, she seemed humble, quiet, and appreciative. However, within a few months, she became ungrateful, demanding, and (physically) abusive. I dropped her like a bad habit! From my experience, I noticed that I get more attention from ladies who are in their early and mid 20's, as compared to females in their 30's and early 40's (they have no interest in me, so why bother?). As I mentioned in a ealier post, AGE DOESN'T ALWAYS EQUAL MATURITY. Later.

My first Colombian wife was 33 me 35.  She turned out to be dominating.  Now,  I have alot of 19-22year olds writing.  At first I stayed clear, now Im considering it.  One in particular has no problems niether does her dad who speaks decent English having lived in the states for a few years.
I am even meeting a 21 year old (Mexicana here in Denver) tomorrow for lunch that I met on Amigos.com.  Many see respect and commitment as a higher priority than age and other things.  These are the tougher ones to find.

I dated a Colombian woman that was quite a bit younger.  She wanted me to meet her family.  Of course her mother had some questions (what kind of work do you do, where do you live, etc).  After I answered the questions everyone was pleased.  Later, I realized the age difference didn't even come up.  In the U.S. this would be the main topic of discussion.  The culture is different.  Also, as Calipro mentioned there are women that want a man closer to their age.
