Survey says ......!?

I had a conversation with a Calena a year ago, and asked why so many chicas have children - she had none, by the way.  Her answer was very enlightening.  She opined that it mainly was a question of 'ignorancia'.... meaning that many of the girls who have children younger assume falsely that the guy will stay with them and form a family, etc.  She felt that women with no educational goals tend to think that way as well, this opinion was shared by my guatemalan friend who was in law school at the time and planning to do a master's degree in the u.s.
Well, I'd like to know.... for guys who have inquired re: reason for having a child or children; what kinds of answers have you gotten from the women you dealt with?

My novia had her son when she was 19. She had already been living with the father of the child for 3 years. They stayed together for 3 more years making 6 total. When she was young, her father died. She went to live with friends of the family. I think she missed having a "real" family and wanted to start her own.

Many of the women down here get pregnant by guys that bail the minute the kid is born or shortly there after. My novia was sort of fortunate that her ex didn't. In fact he never bailed but she grew tired of him being out en la calle a lot, and finally threw him out. He lives in the states now and still sends a few bucks per month to pay for the kids school etc.

I think many girls really believe the guy will stick around and they will live happily ever after. Most times that isn't even close to reality. My novia had it better than most.
