Well, why don't you let the man speak for himself....he's over 60 years old, I don't think he needs you looking out for him.

My questions are not sarcastic or spiteful, but rather very serious.

If you want to start another thread about me, and issues you have, go right ahead. I'm asking Pete questions in this one.

The comment about re-entering the U.S. brought this to mind:

There was a poster on the Colombia Guide/Poor But Happy site last week who said he was $5000 behind in child support. He also said the delinquency was the cause of his passport application being denied.

I've no idea of the intricacies of state and federal programs, be they child support, pension payments, health/welfare assistance, student loans, taxes etc but if the poster's story was accurate, it sounds like Uncle Sam is doing a better job of cross-referencing the various databases before conferring benefits/privileges.

If it manages to get in the Fed's oomputer - you're walking on thin ice.  I know of someone that was detained and flown across the country from the point of entry because of a database entry error - change your last name if it's a common one!

Not to bash the new security measures, but all you need 'Carte Blanche' to enter the US is a machine readable US passport, which has a photo of a likeness of the passport holder (should the agent look up).  We live in the day and age of hackers - this hack was conquered decades ago.

(No I don't have a point BTW, just rambling)

Fly to Tijuana, then on a Saturday night stagger across the San Ysidro checkpoint stinking of Tequila and singing, "El Paso" by Marty Robbins. Believe me they'll just wave you on through.

... in response to A couple of questions...., posted by JunFan on Jan 17, 2004

Since you like to come back and sermonize, Mike, let's hear about your situation:

"It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce. (Mat.5:31)

Or as the NJFV (New JunFan Version) says [http://www.planet-love.com/wwwboard/latin/archives/display.php?archive=000168&id=52796]: "I would say that I realized that I had made an obvious mistake, and needed to end it as soon as possible so that both of us could go on with our own lives."

..."But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery. (Mat 5:32)

So I guess technically you are causing your ex-wife to be an adulteress?

Just out of curiosity, how is that gonna resolve itself?

Well, I'm glad you asked....

My marriage and divorce was before I became a Believer.  You are right, the way that it ended was not Biblical.  But the marriage was not Biblical to begin with.

OK here, too. But unless you're beating up Pete with the Law in order to show him the grace of the Lord, remember that you were justified by faith and not by works.

[This message has been edited by DavidMN]

This has been a remarkably civil discussion given the subject. But when one person says "faith" and another says "works" I wonder if we're on the road to rehashing the Protestant v. Catholic split of five centuries ago?

Now, you are babbling son...

And you are not "justified"...

I think you are trying to refer to Ephesians 2:8-9

Go back and read it.

If you are gonna take pot shots at me, at least know what you are talking about.

As one contemplating spiritual immersion, I don't find the prevailing attitudes and extreme haughtiness very attractive. I thought Christianity was about building up. Very little of that going on around here. Sure glad some here don't have to judge me! I don't agree with Pete's method of handling affairs but I also realize I don't have all of the facts. Any half intelligent person knows better to render a judgement without all of the facts from all sides. I also find his lack of aggressiveness and absence of a holier than thou attitude much more appealing than some so called christians around here. At least he isn't faking it!

If you are not pointing at me as an excuse for not looking into Christ, then I'm sure it would be some other excuse....probably just like you have done your whole life.

Unfortunately for you, using me as an excuse will not work with God.  My life does not change the Truth.

Your observations couldn't be farther from the truth and your life could be a witness to the truth. Sadly, it is not. At least at this time. Very appealing attitude, keep up the humility and  keep up the good work, or 'works.' Judge me not for you know absolutely about me. I stand by my original statement. Pete is not professing to be christian, but his attitude is much more appealing than yours. Only an opinion.

I wasn't asking him the questions in relation to "Biblical Laws", but rather in relation to the laws, responsibilities and customs of our land.
