What are the laws pertaining to marriage in a third country? My fiance is working in Portugal but is Brazilian. Is it possible we could marry in Lisbon because she does not want to quit her job and wait in Brazil for months while are speedy INS does the paper work? Later we would marry in Brazil with a nice ceremony for her family to see but this is actually the best way for us right now.

That's a good question.  We would refer you to Gary Bala, our American lawyer, at:

http://www.usaimmigrationattorney.com/brazilpage.html

regarding the marriage to a Brazilian.  And then we would refer you to our Brazilian lawyer at:

http://www.noronhaadvogados.com.br

They are the best in Brazil.

In Portugal, we don't know, but the above URL has offices in Portugal.

You should know that Brazilians are contemptuous of the Portuguese, and make jokes about them.  Asking us Brazilians for help in Portugal is like standing on a stool to catch the moon.  But we are always happy to offer what help we can.

Good luck!

PS  Don't say anything bad about the new homeland suck-your-ity, or they will throw your life into a dungeon toilet bowl and lose the key.
