Honey just told me about a TV show she watched last night.

It was about a Filipina who came to the states to marry her pen-pal.  He rape her and abandoned her (what ever happened to the CFO classes that teached them what to do if this happens).  She was literally starving in the streets until a kind man, James, found her.

He brought her into his home and helped her get back on her feet.  Yeap, they fell in love and married but he was involved in an accident and was forced into a wheel chair for the rest if his life.  The girl ended up taking care of him by working on a pier running a hamburger stand in San Franciso.

She was regularly approached by others and on this one occasion a young man persisted in asking for her phone number even though she refused (strange she wouldn't tell anyone she was married now?).  Another Filipino saw the problem and came up and said he was her husband and the young man should leave her alone.

This guy had been here most of his life after having been abandoned by his father who married a AW (what?).  This Filipino befriended her and came around often.  One day he went home with her and found she was married.  He decided to help the guy who was very embarassed he had been forced to let the girl support him.  The husband was able to help the Filipino man get a better job but had to move away.

Soon (about 5 years) James died.  She found the Filipino man again and they fell in love and married.  They now run a Filipino imigration assistance business in San Franciso co-ordinated with the INS (and the hamburger stand also).

Lets see.  Americans are good for rape and abandonment, you can't earn very good money and chances are you will end up taking care an old man till he dies where you'll be all alone, unless of course you can find another abandoned Filipino to marry.

Ggggrrrrrr.

What ever happened to people that helped others accomplsih their goals and find ways to provide.  What ever happend to working to help others avoid potential problems with education instead of vulgar untrue generalizations of whole nations.  I know this is a minor thing but people tend to believe the propaganda they see on TV.  They take the rareity and make it the norm in order to control people with lies and half-truths.  They never tell you about the high success rate of Filipina-American marriages or that as many or more of the Filipinas use AM's than find some jerk like she did.

... that what we see on TV isn't real life?Huh? Geez, next you'll be saying that not all businessmen are evil murderers poisoning the environment to satiate their greed, not all top scientists aren't 25 year old nymphets who look like Elizabeth Shue or Nichole Kidman, and not all 8 year olds are smarter, more smart alec, and more perceptive than their bumbling parents! Oh no, could it be?
