Lori:

We're leaving for Alaska September 8. We will fly to Juneau, then take state ferry to Haines & Skagway for two days each. And then back to Juneau for another 4 days.

Where in Alaska did you live? Any recommendations on what to do? I don't want to fly in one of those small planes. It's very scarry to me...

I was in anchorage. Pretty far from juneau. I did visit Danali park and it is definatly a site to see!! Anchorage is very nice, but you won't get there unless you fly, in that amount of time.
m0 About flying in those little airplanes. I am not trying to scare you but, when I lived there, there were several reports of small plane crashes. The "shanook" winds (spelling) are very strong and unpredictable. The most experienced flyer would be inexperienced there.
But, I do believe Alaska is beautiful wherever you go. Theres nothing like it, but then again I have not "really" been to many places.

I think it's Chinook - like the salmon. I always wanted to go there myself.
