Hi all. I think that's it for me. At least for awhile. I'm tired of being put on trial when I post some info about my experiences while living in Colombia. Not put on trial by everyone, just some that feel they have to or something. So, if you want to email with a question feel free at m3magency@hotmail.com but I don't think I'll be posting in public for awhile.
I know this is abrupt but I have some frustration going with the TV show and all and this is one less frustration I need. Plus, I have seen the same questions over the years about Colombian women and green card sharks and the danger level of Colombia etc.etc. and when someone gives some advice it's the same advice (and it's usually good advice) and I see the same advice being disputed or questioned to death. I've tried to give advice in various things because I learned through my own mistakes and how I saw others learn from their own mistakes and I and others have relayed that info so you might avoid what we have gone through. Then you get someone who wil accuse you have having another agenda or something. Now I know you might not have seen a whole lot of this on this board, but it's coming to me in my private email and it's done by some folks on this board. (Patrick, I'll email you copies of those emails) So, I don't need the hassle.
Good luck in your search.

I also want to let you know that I enjoy reading your posts and the board benefits from having someone like you, with your experience, in Cali.

Take care.

Hate to see you leave. Your experience has been a great help to me. But I don't blame you. The atmosphere on this board has changed a lot since I first joined a year ago. Of course there was some b**ch slapping going on then. You probably remember my contribution. This board needs to get back to the spirit that it is intended for. The vets like you that have seen everything on this board need to stick around and move this board back in the right direction. I am finding it easy to just pass over the threads that involve the bickering. There's a lot less to read but what I do read is valuable information. I'll stay in touch with questions via email. Bueno suerte.

I hate to see traveller go to.  He gives his opinion from the heart and I enjoy reading his adventures...which are many.

But I disagree with you about the board changing.  I've been reading it for a long long time and IMO very little has changed.  A lot of the same subjects have been discussed over and over again, they go in cycles with more or less the same opinions being heard.  And for me, the board "b**ch slapping" as you call it is pretty tame compared to times past.  If you think recent squirmishes were bad go back to the archives in 2001 and read some of the battles from back then.

Anyway, I think the board is what is.  It's an open forum and in one sense everyone's an expert here.  From my perspective, any time I post something, I assume someone may have a different view or experience. I think the people who have traveled to South America a lot, have a lot of practical experience but being a vet does not mean your opinions are beyond approach.

For sure, sometimes we get nitpicky about things that aren't too important. For example, I contradicted someone the other day about wearing scuffed up loafers on dates of all things.  But we've seen other guys go out of their way to correct each others spelling or mistated Spanish words.  These are trivial items and there's sometimes a bit of one upmanship that occurs here.  I suppose it might be frustrating to some but in the end, it's really not that big of a deal.

Remember this is the internet....

Traveler,
I understand your frustration.  There are many guys on this board who think they know it all, just because they made one or two trips down to Colombia and got married out of desperation.  They think they can speak the language, but they can't.  They think they understand the culture, but they don't.  I've always enjoyed your posts because you know what you're talking about.  I've been to Colombia (at the last count 27 times) been married to a Calena, am very fluent in spanish, but I get charltans on this board trying to correct my spanish or "educate" me about latin culture.  I know that Calipro and I have had our problems, but I respect him more than probably 90% of the guys on this board.  Why??  because he has been there too, I've seen him.  Alot of the guys here are just pretenders, who have nothing better to do than to sit in front of the computer all day.  Then they post bitter commentaries complaining that women are only interested in a man with money.  Why are they bitter??, because they don't have any money, they spend all day on the internet!!!
I know it's been said before, but there is a little "good ole' boy" network on this board.  And it's very juvenile, mainly due to insecurity, when someone like Traveler shows up, who does know more about Cali & Colombia than 99% of the guys here, and these charltans can't handle it.  To many of these guys, this board is all they have to look forward to.  They don't have a good career going, they're old, out of shape.  Oh, but they married a latina out of desperation, so they know it all.
Sorry to see you go Traveler, next time I'm in Cali, I'll look you up.  Good Luck!!!!

I thought Traveler's contributions were terrific and I'm sorry that he got his nose out of joint.  I appreciate the men who take time to post about their experiences. All men have different mindsets about woman, dating, romance, sex, etc., in SA and LA and what is very interesting (at least to me) is to see the different men's personalities emerge as they post their feelings and experiences about these topics.

The air has been de toxified, the trolls (for the moment) are gone, we;ve had some good threads, lets keep it going.  Have a good day everyone!  Dominguin

Allow me to add my voice to the virtual cacaphony of individuals expressing disappointment at your departure.  Although we may have disagreed on one or two matters, I always enjoyed reading your posts and you supported your arguments well.

Forums seem to come full circle every now and then; nothing that a couple of months' no-mail/vacation doesn't cure.

I have been traveling to Cali for ten years and I have been to Cali 20 or more times. I usually stay any where from two weeks to one month at a time and I have never had a problem in Cali.

If nobody is here to tell these guys whats up, they will probably never go down and find out for themselves. They will keep buying the bull others are selling.

I think most americans that are living in Cali will tell you the stats. are off and the danger level is very exagerated.

I find Cali to be a very relaxing and enjoyable city. But, I was born and raised in Los Angeles. For anybody that really believes Cali is more dangerous than Los Angeles I would love to give you a tour. Not only are there more criminals but they are very well armed. Cali is a walk in the park no doubt about it compared to Los Angeles, IMHO.

I'd hate to see you go as I think you have a lot of first hand experience in things that are of interest to all of us.  I disagree with you about the danger level in Colombia but it's an honest disagreement among people with just different views.  I hope you're not leaving because of my response to your post below.

i am very sorry to see you go.You have brought a lot of depth and insight to this process and about Colombia as well. There will always be nitpickers,naysayers,one-uppers
etc.I do not post much, mostly because of your experiences of sarcasm, personal attacks, and just plain old jerkoff's
for whom this is the highlight of their day(life?).I hope at some point you will re-consider.Best of wishes.
