I lurk here, but I have never posted on this particular forum.  I do post on another forum.  Today, I have received two different spam emails from a "romance tour" for gay men to Brazil.  This is the site:

One of the emails identified me as a Planet Love subscriber.  How is that possible?  I have never posted here.  Is this forum affiliated with this tour in some way?

I am not homophobic, but the emails I have received are both unsolicited and unsettling.

The person who created that fake web site might be the same one who created something similar with Larry Glickman's name on it several months ago (L. Glickman posts frequently on the LWL board). Kind of sad that the fake web site "author" doesn't have more productive uses for his time and underscores the need to be careful when sending out your photo.

I seriously doubt the message came from Geoffrey. There has been similar silly attacks on Larry G of LWL. Just ignore it.

The phone number include in the "ad" is a non-working number for the University of Miami (or at least that is what the message says on the phone).

Hi guys,

Brasil is indeed a different ball game in many aspects.

here gays,transvestits and other people that are "off the beaten track"...are more in the open then in any other SA country.

I have seen many gay fiestas at beaches...and nobody seemed to took offense.

However for some conservative latinos this might not be the case......and in Argentina I know several gays got beat up by socalled "homo-bangers"..!
Also here in germany this is the case....but the people of usualy do this here are Neo-nazis or other crazy intolerant people who should be locked behind bars.

As long they leave me alone...I have no trouble with it.

PS: spam is a serious problem.....wheater it comes from a gay site or from any site:-(

Listers,

Several subscribers on the LWL have received the email in question.  It is an attempt to slur me since my handle here is Brazilophile.  Aaron has sent harassing emails to my home email account, which I believe he obtained through the LWL.  

I believe Aaron is responsible for the geocities emails.  Please ignore them in the hopes that he will become bored and find some other way to amuse himself.  Patrick, please delete any posts related to this scam.  Thanks.

I didn't get an email, and I have to say that if it is from Aaron, I don't know why I didn't get an email as my email address is posted in my profile and I think I would be near the top of the list of people who he would send something like that to as I was one of his biggest detractors here.  

However I don't post on LWL, just here, and perhaps the emails are just targeting LWL posters even if it makes a reference to Planet Love.

Seems way too similar to what happens to larry G. Larry seemed to think it was an agency owner. Some people have way too much free time.

I received the same note from brazilophile@nospam.com. Sounds like some latent homosexual thinks some of us are homophobic and is trying to freak us out while denying his true drives. Did you know gary coleman was gay.

    The timing seems right and I did make him the GI Jane offer, but Patrick erased it. Maybe he is just testing the waters JIM C
