in todays paper, the head of the mmda the metro manila development athority(sp) said that filipino's were the most uneducated ,and the worst drivers in the world.
and that jeppy and bus driver were the worst of the worst.
it didnt take me but about 30 seconds to see they dont know how to drive.

On the road to Balingoan from Butuan we saw an accident site.  The locals said it was a head-on collision involving a logging truck and one of those open-air little panel vans, a passenger vehicle, Isuzu I think.  Six people were killed, they said.  I don't doubt it after seeing the little truck - it was so flat it didn't look more than two feet high.  Buses and big trucks reach incredible speeds on that road.

I have visited the RP 9 times.  I am amazed that I have only seen one accident in Manila during those many visits.  I drive the family car when I am in Butuan.  The large truck driver and bus drivers are absolutely dangerous.  They drive with great arrogance without respect for the people in the small villages.  It is up to the people to look out for them.  Small children that are not street smart are freq victims of these large vehicles.
