Heard on the news today someone got Uribe's debit card and cleaned out twelve million pesos before he caught it. In this country even the president gets flim-flamed!

Colombian President Loses ATM Card
Associated Press

BOGOTA, Colombia - Colombia's law-and-order president lost his wallet with his ATM card inside, and within hours someone had illegally withdrawn $4,200, authorities said Monday.

The wallet, which also contained the automatic teller machine password, fell out of President Alvaro Uribe's jacket Friday while he visited Bucaramanga, 200 miles southeast of Bogota.

By Saturday morning, $4,200 was drained from the account. The fraud was discovered after the bank called the president's office to ask about the high number of withdrawals.

Authorities captured two suspects on Monday and said they recovered the cash.

Uribe was elected last May on a pledge to crack down on illegal armed groups in this war-torn South American nation.

Amazing, Uribe let him go without pressing charges - pretty classy move.  Said he deserved a second chance.
