But a judge who wears a flowing robe no.  He was an advertising executive with 8 children for whom he worked his butt off (his and his cigarette's) so they can all go to college.  We were poor in a sense that we had our first TV (black and white) in 1970 (when colored TV started to become the norm).  And with eight children, there wasn't much food to go around.  Trips and vacations were practically nil.

Black and white TV! O M G! ( I don't think my Ex-wife's family even have a TV! They would love to have a black and white TV. I have yet to meet a poor advertizing executive Carr. LOL

Poor people can't even afford cigs! Well maybe one at a time not a whole pack.  Carr go back to Manila and take a walk thru Tondo or go up to smokey MT. I bet you never went without a pair of flip flops.  You are one of the lucky one's.   Don't get me wrong there's nothing bad about being well off. I am glad to hear you did not suffer like the street kids of Tondo.

But, i wholeheartedly agree with Carrisse.

No offense meant, but, all you  "foreigners"  must now be able to distinguish and understand that a lot of factors contribute to such situations.

And, pls.  NEVER, NEVER generalize us in that context.
