I just arrived in Bogota this morning and was wondering if anyone else is here or if anyone is travelling here in the coming days.

I just checked into the Hotel La Fontana.  I am only here for two days, so I don't have a lot of time.  Where are you staying?

I'm not there, sorry, I wish I was...I'm considering an after Christmas trip. I was going to comment on your spelling of Bogota (Bogata) until I noticed that you spelled it right on your post. It still sickens me to see guys referring to Bogota's motherland as ColUmbia after several trips. I can be apologetic to those who have never been there but for anyone who has...NO EXCUSE!!!

I just got back into Bogota and have not had a chance to even breathe.  I will write you soon though and answer any questions you might have.  Have a great day!

arriving on the 26th and leaving on the 29th. not a lot of time, but better than nothing. so far this year, i have been to bogota 6 times. the last time, which was in october, the immigration "jerk" in bogota, tried to tell me that i needed a visa to enter colombia. i think that he was looking for some money, or just trying to piss me off,or he really didnt like the fact that i had been there so many times in one year, or maybe i had a colombian girlfriend. anyways, after not giving in to him, he let me go through, but he stamped 30 days in my passport, which was a first. anybody else had a similar encounter?

Yes they almost didnīt let me in because I did not have my wifes address or phone number.  Thank God I talked my way in without any real problems.

Yes when I came down within a month or two of a prior visit they gave me just thirty days. A friend here was staying without a visa and when he returned from a short trip to Florida they told him he had five days to get out of Colombia and couldn't come back for two months. Said he'd been in the country for over 180 days in one year.

My wifes sister is married to a Russian guy who came to Colombia about ten years ago and never left. I wonder what they are going to do to him if he ever tries to go on vacation out of the country.

Why would a Russian ever want to leave Colombia? If he did he might bump into a Russian woman.
