Electrical Outlet types in Cali @ cell phone

I am packing my bags for my trip to Cali. I am even taking an answering machine with me.

Are the electrical and telephone outlets the same in Cali as in the states?

Also, I am taking my motorola v66 cell phone will it work in Colombia if I change the chip and get local serivce there?

Yes they are the same.  Don't take your cell with you....I bought a used Nokia with service for about $60 in Cali.  You can buy BellSouth phone cards in 10000 and 20000 peso increments and load your cell phone with minutes.  Incoming calls are free which is not the case in the United States.
