I am leaving for Cali in about 10 days for the first time and want to know what the risks are of taking a notebook computer,PDA,Digital Camera and Cell Phone. Is it better to leave all this stuff in the States?

I canīt speak for Cali, but I take a very expensive laptop, 2 cameras, 2 cellphones, and 1 expensive translator with me on every trip I make to Bogota (which is every 2 weeks).  No problem.

I always take my Thinkpad and my camera.  I don't believe your cell phone will work unless you use a special service that allows world access.  Anyway, don't worry about your electronic toys and have a good time.

For about 30 bucks you can have your cell phone programmed into their system.  Then each time you go just buy cards for airtime.  I am not sure which services work and which don't.
