Well, my flight leaves LAX in 10 days for Cali. However I won't be on it. I met a lady from Manizales a few weeks ago who lives here in San Diego. Apparently there is a large Colombian community here. Anyway, she mentioned that she knows many single Colombianas here and in LA. She offered to introduce me to them and I took her up on it. She took me to a party last weekend and I met Colombian people for the first time. I had the best time I've had in a very long time. I fell in love with the Colombian people. I was the only gringo at the party and I don't speak Spanish but everyone of them made sure that I felt comfortable. I don't think I have ever met people that had such a passion for living. Anyway I met a very beautiful lady from Medillin. She has been in the US for 3 weeks. We seem perfect for each other but I think that that has a lot to do with my friend from Manizales. We talked a lot and she picked the best lady for me to meet. Saturday I took the lady to dinner and the Shakira concert.(Awesome show!) She doesn't speak English but that didn't stop us. We had only a cheapo electonic translator but I was amazed at how well we could make ourselves understood. She is very intelligent and well educated so I think that made the difference. We have only spent a couple of days together but I have seen many things in her that I want in a wife. So I have decided to postpone my Nov trip to Cali. I want to see how things go with this lady before I go wandering through the candy store. Besides I think I would prefer to go to Colombia with a Colombian lady, especially this one. I'm out $500 for the ticket but small price to pay.
On another note, as I mentioned before, there are a lot of single Colombian ladies in Southern California that would love to marry an American man. It isn't just the ladies IN Colombia that put a high premium on an American husband. I'm sure that some are only looking for the green card but I'm sure that the vast majority are sincerely seeking only happiness. At any rate if there are any men in the Southern Cal area that are interested in meeting Colombianas living in the area, email me. There is a big fund raiser on November 23 here in San Diego to raise money for displaced families in Colombia. This would be a perfect time to meet these ladies in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. I will say this. If you are not for real, forget it. These ladies have no interest in playing games with insincere men and they can spot a phoney in a heart beat. They all are have at least temporary visas. Most of them speak at least some English and are well educated. Sure they have adopted some American traits but if you think that lady in Colombia isn't going to become Americanized guess again. Anyway, if you are interested let me know.

Congratulations! Your new Columbian love sounds like it's made in heaven, better yet in San Diego. I'm very interested in finding out more about the November 23 fund raiser in San Diego and possibly attending. Two years ago, I lived in PB and taught for San Diego City Schools. I look forward to hearing from you.

One thing to keep in mind is that it's practically impossible for ordinary Colombians to get a visa through legitimate means.  The wait at the embassy for the tourist visa is over 2 years.  However, there are other ways to get into the US and Colombia is the fraud capitol of the world.  My novia was approached by a co-worker who for a price could get her a Business visa to a trade show in Miami.  All the necessary papers would me manufactured.  Once, she got the B-1 business visa it was good for 5 years with multiple entry (she could stay 6 months at a time) and she didn't even have to go the trade show.  I had her turn it down of course.  Other techniques are marrying a relative in the US.  Also, if you meet a Colombian in the US, there is a good chance that her Visa has already expired.  If you end up falling in love it could easily cost you more than 10 trips to Cali to hire a lawyer to clean up the mess and it might not even be possible.  I don't see this as cost effective.    Because I am bringing my Novia from Colombia myself, I can file the K-1 documents and bring her in legitimately, so we won't have any problems or nasty surprises later.

Thanks for the advice. Before anything goes any further I am going to confirm that everything is legit. My gut feeling is that everything is on the up and up. But you are right. It could turn into a nightmare real fast. Does anyone know if you can get the INS to verify a visa? Thanks

I would follow up on that if I were you, see where it goes. The Shakira concert had to be a BIG hit with her.

Good luck-
