I'm not Ralph Lauren but I have been impressed by the quality of clothing in Cali.  They have really nice suits and tuxedos and the service and price are great.

D,

When ever I go to Colombia, I usually tuck away an extra $100.00 or so for my own personal shopping. There are some really nice shops, but a smart buyer has to know which ones to visit and which ones not to visit because some shops can be just as expensive in the US.

For example, one time I was in Bucaramanga during 2000, and I went to a San Andresito. There I bought a black authentic leather covered Samsonite brief case for $45.00. It has two combination locks. The same brief case would cost about $200.00 in the US. Last time in Cali, I bought a really nice pair of authentic Fila tennis shoes for $35.00.

A San Andresito is a really nice place to shop if your not into really high class and formal things. There are other places for that.

Hey Aaron,

I buy all my shirts and jackets in Cali......jeans, socks, my addidas...I buy here in California.  There's a nice store called Arturo Calle in all the Colombian malls and they have great prices on men's casual (but nice) attire.  Last year I bought 15 shirts there and they were all between 30,000 to 35,000 pesos.  I think it worked out to 15 nice shirts for $200.

I meant to say the rental places offered very little in terms of selection and elegance.  I also like the clothing in Colombia good materials and very very well priced.

that's right around what I kicked out. I had to add more since I used a robber, errr Notary! We also had around 120 people....

Comparative cost in the USA....20 to 25k

Now that is qualifies as a "YIKES!!!" in my book C-Vet..LOL!

Hoda,

The reception was really nice and classy. I'm shocked that you paid that much for all the trims. I was wondering how much you paid, but I felt it would have been inappropriate to ask.

Well with costs running about 20K here in California I thought it was cheap.  (-: You can definitely find better prices on the dress and reception it just depends on what you're looking for.

In California, and the Bay Area especially...you'd be coughing up that $2500 or more JUST for the wedding dress.

I think I spent less than $2,000 on our wedding in California.  Maybe $250 on the ring, $150 or so for the justice of the peace, around $1,200 for scuba equipment, and a couple of hundred for my wife's red dress.  There were no guests at our 7:30 AM ceremony, and I made it to work afterwards by 9:00.

Our second (Catholic) wedding was even cheaper.  $50 or so to get the rings buffed, $70 for the Catholic marriage encounter class, and maybe $350 for dinner for us, four close friends, and my mother-in-law.

I would have spent more, but it was her decision to keep things very simple and informal.

Everybody's different.

Thirty-five dollars. Probate judge in Alabama (similar to JP in most states). What's a "reception"?
