Look,  I barely know Margaret.  But this is my experience and impression of her.  She is overall a pretty good lady.  She has a lot of really nice looking girls in and out of her books.  But if you use her service you are going to pay for it.  I did not stay there but I paid her for a one year membership. I was there for literally two days.  The first day I met her was to pay the fee and go through the books. I then returned 2 days later to meet the 9 girls I had picked.  All nine showed, no one stiffed.  At the end of the day she had brought over 25 different girls for me to meet, including my 9.  All were good looking, some were "wow" and some were "oh my god".  I did not ask her to bring over these other girls, but I felt she brought over such a large amount of girls because she thought I was a good candidate for her clients.  It seemed like a casting call.  There were some many I could not see them all.  I felt bad for the 9 I had wanted to talk to because they all had to wait their turn.  It is a very odd experience.  I had one beautiful lady bring her daughter to meet me.  Her daughter was 16 or 17.  Very, very pretty.  The mom was my age 38.  The mom first started interviewing me, then once she seemed satisfied I was a good catch, she then really started pitching her daughter.  Telling what a good girl she is.  How at a young age she already finished school and was in the university.  A great cook and would treat me like the King I am.  She was really pitching hard.  I actually asked the mother to excuse herself because I wanted to talk with the girl privately with Margeret translating. She was a bit shy but seemed to really have her head on straight but a bit young mentally for me.  As for Margaret, she was and I suspect still is very proetective of her girls.  In the end I met a very hot, young girl who modeled diesel jeans in a store and now I am happy, dumb and married!

Yes, later I heard Margaret talked some smack about me behind my back but I felt it came from her protective side.  She did not want to see these girls hurt or used.  Bottom line IT WORKS!  Don't get so caught up in the Margaret stuff.  She is what she is.  A hardworking, hussling, business women.  She has a reputation for getting her girls married with good guys, and getting good guys hooked up with the girl of their dreams.  She is a bit greedy, but if you know that going in then you are fine.

Remember this:  There is a reason some many hot, attractive girls sign up with her.  She has a reputation for delivering...

Latin Encounters and Margareth also plays the scam game.
Set me up , with a girl already engaged and/or had a boyfriend, made sure she collected the membership money first from me.  She uses ringers to bring the guys in.
I will define ringer again  "A girl who has no all almost no intention of marrying a gringo, but is in the agency out of curiosity or free whatever, the agency knows it , but knows the girl is a looker the brings in gringos"

Where are those green card sharks( when you need them) that will marry a gringo no matter what. Now we have women that have no intention what so ever of marry a gringo and are just looking for a free lunch. I can't keep up!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion -- and here is mine. I stayed at Latin Encounters a few months ago and was very satisfy with the way Margareth and the staff treated me.  She delivered what she promised. If I had to use her agency again, I would not hesitate to do so.

I hear people complaining about ringers on the Latin Encounters webpage, but the true is that this is one of the most updated and most professional-looking websites in the agency business.  That was one of the reasons why I decided to stay at Latin Encounters. The other reason: they responded to my e-mails promptly. This agency is run as a business, not as a hobby.

Margareth did ask me if I wanted her to take care of my wedding arrangement and I told her that I would think about it. She did not asked me again, but did e-mail me a wedding list that included services and prices.  This list is available on the LE website.

Is Margareth the Mother Theresa of Cali? She is not. But she is a good matchmaker.

I would say this describes Luz Amparo of Latin Best even more accurately and she can certainly claim more marriages than any other agency in Cali (due in part of course to being the oldest surviving agency in Cali).

I totally agree with you about Luz. I really like her. Just meeting her, I could tell that she is a good person. And she cares about both the male clients and female members.

I decided that up until I get engage, I'll be staying at her agency B&B each trip, and spend my money with her, but visit other places.

Aaron I think that's a good plan. I know of much cheaper accomodation options within walking distance of Luz Amparo which I've already posted but staying by yourself in Cali can be kind of boring if you don't have a friendship network here and it can be a lot more fun at an agency where at the end of the day you can compare skirmishes oops...I mean dates with other gringos. You had a bum steer but I'm glad to see you lookin' to get back on the horse.

Aaron, I honestly can't tell you since he's jacked it up once or twice against my ernest consejos al contrario. It used to be $45 a day, even with (igual a) Latin-Internet and Luz's worst offer but I've been quoted higher numbers in the recent past. Best advise? Walk in and see what you can negotiate according to your time and needs. I would say of all the agencies Ricardo is the most negotiation friendly. Adendum: I walked a guy over to Latin Best the other day (it's a fifteen minute walk from here) who is in Cali long term, like untill a lawyer can't extend his stay any longer and Luz said her services would be available to him while he's in Cali for (total) $50. Have you checked the exchange rate lately?

must have recovered a little as the day went on. Or maybe the 2912 was the other price, as in: got dollars/want pesos? OK, I give you 2850---Got pesos/need dollars? OK, pay me 2912. That's how they quote exchange rates at banks and casa de cambios in Mexico, does Colombia do it the same way? Has anybody noticed the prices (quoted in pesos, in Colombia) going up correspondingly? Hope not.

The rate is relative to the US dollar. So remember, if the US dollar goes down a little (which is probably the case); then the COP gains more value.

$50.00 is the daily rate right? He can't be staying in the B&B because it will cost her way more than $50.00 to provide him with room and board for his entire stay.

If he's paying $50.00 for her services by just walking in, then that's a different story. That's a great deal for him.

If this is the case, then I'm inclined to believe that business is slow right now, and she's dropping her prices to compete with other agencies. This strategy usually hurts all businesses because what happens is that the bottom drops out of the market, and it's too hard for other places to compete when there is someone willing to go so low. Usually, the other places that can't go as low close up, and the one remaining corners the market, but their fees are still too low. In the long run, it will hurt because when the money ever starts to flow again, the remaining business will have a hard time requesting for higher fees because customers will expect low rates.

Patricia isn't working there anymore. So, I guess Luz felt it was too costly to have an assistant.

I checked the rate a couple of days ago. It's about 2.980 COP to 1.00 USD.

When I stay at Luz, I pay $35.00 per day. I know it's more expensive than some other places, but it's not all that expensive. Plus, it's convenient.

I didn't see Patricia there when I went by but I didn't know she was gone. Yes the offer was for the agency services as long as he's here, not a daily rate for room and board. I think there are few gringos in town right now. I measure by how many I see when I go to Chipichapi and I haven't seen more than one or two lately.
