My fiancee's aunt lives in Los Angeles and she gave me one of her left over calling cards that she uses to call Cali with.  I tested it out this weekend and was very happy with the results.    I should qualify this and say that it worked great to my fiancee's cellular but only so so to the dedicated line in her house.  But the price was only marginally higher to her cell phone so that's how I intend to use it.

Anyway, for $10 you get 150 minutes of talk time to a mobile phone in Cali.  After the first call there is a 79 cent deduction which will repeat once every two weeks.  The card bills in one minute increments, has no connection fee or additional taxes but will expire in 90 days.

At under 7 cents a minute, I recommend you try this card if your novia or wife's family has a cellular.

Well I have a slight retraction, after using the card with no problems for two days, when I went to use it a minute ago, another half dollar or so had been subtracted from the balance.  I'm not sure what's up with these cards but I'm getting tired of these kind of things....
