What do you expect?

This is what Iswrote posted and it piqued my curiosity:
I have to note that this is a whole lot more like dating American women than I was expecting. The most attractive and glibbest guys in the group are still the ones most of the attractive women seem to hang around with. Not speaking Spanish is a bigger handicap than I expected. Though I have been able to schedule interviews with several English speaking women, trying to strike up a conversation with a woman at the socials inevitably ends up with me only able to convey the basic information, like name, where I live and age.
What were you expectations and what did you see that did and did not. I hope someone gave some some advice before you went down as far as building your language skills. Don't let this deter you, you may have to
1. Return speaking and understanding Spanish
2. Maybe try another LA country

Bogota is really an exception I think from every other part of the country as far as attitudes of the women.Compared to the rest of Colombia they are more Americanized.
Don't switch countries,switch cities,if it doesn't work in Bogota.
