Hoda,

My mom is a predjudice person.  She is a wonderful mom and I love her, but she is from Ohio, a little hickish and she is a racist plain and simple.

She has always voiced her opinion about her disaproval of black and white couples.

She absolutely loves my Colombian wife by the way who happens to have very brown skin of course.

One day I was playing with my mom a little after she had made some inappropriate comment about black and white couples.

I said, "well mom you obviously think that a white guy with a black women is a BIG PROBLEM"  Well my wife is brown skinned, so she is only half black....so this must be half of a big problem...only a small problem??.

She smiled, chuckled, and said, "but it's not the same"  I quietly said, I really think it is Mom, and dropped the subject.

Of course she really didn't get it.LOL

Is La Jolla a nice place to live?  I have a chance to move from Florida to La Jolla.  
In Florida I live like a king off moderate income, in La Jolla I heard you need money to live nice.
I was there once , the spanish styel architectue open air is nice.  The water is cold compared to Florida.

Vet,

The weather is cold here most of the year.  Not by east coast standards but in my opinion 55-65 is cold.  My wife is cold most of the time.  It has just warmed up this week!  All of june was cold.

I don't like San Diego personally.  It is over regulated and you can't fart without getting a citation.  For example you can't walk your dog between 9 Am and 6 Pm on or off the leash.  150.00 ticket. I've been here for 25 years and I've had it with the place.

The cost of real-estate is absolutely stupid.   It starts at 375,000 and goes up from there.

But I guess there are some nice things about San Diego, but I like a warm ocean.  The ocean is 57 in the winter and 67 in the summer, so basically unless you are a hard core water person, you won't get in ever when you are from florida's bath like waters.

It's basically turning into another LA.

But some people love it here, and you may also.  If you want to talk on the phone sometime, I would be happy to give you a little input about the place.

About La Jolla, it is the nicest place to live in San Diego but the traffic sucks there and it's 30 minutes to the freeway to go anywhere.  What a bore.  You are going to have to be filthy rich to buy a home there.  Minimum I would say is 750,000 for a shack and up.

You confirmed what others have told me.
But I didn't want to bias you until I heard your comment.

I do like being able to jump into blue 82 degree water all the time in Florida.  Basically the weather is like Cali
all year round.

But if you were a millionare , A house on the hills , with a view of the ocean is nice in LA Jolla.
No way, can I afford, for I rent a condo for $700 in Florida, with a view of the water.
Calenas are used to aprtments , so I don't need a house, like american girls would insist.

 If you are looking for a Latin wife, you may want to consider that the major advantage of San Diego is that it is across the border from Mexico and a major urban center Tijuana and surroundings, including Rosarita, Encenada, with over a million people.  I know several men who live in Tijuana and commute to work everday in San Diego.  They all have girlfriends.  When you actually live there it's impossible not to meet somebody.  The rent is cheaper in Tijuana and you can find nice places.  You could even get a great beach place if you wanted.  Thursday is ladies night at Plaza Fiesta.  The only gripe I hear is that you have to pay some of your bills in person.  Many San Diegans walk across the border every week to sniff some free air and escape from uptight San Diego.

Hi Bogota Vet,
             I lived in Pacific Beach (PB) last year which is just south of La Jolla. PB is crowded and has a large college crowd, but it has some very nice areas too. The area near and around Crown Point is gorgeous and peaceful as far as San Diego goes. I paid $795 for a small, but nice 1 bedroom apt. in PB. However, I'd pay a lot more to be able to go swimming in a beautiful and warm ocean. Good luck on making your decision! Seeker

Your mother sees & feels the love you have for your wife. That's why to her.."it's not the same"! I have some narrow minded relatives who think that anyone who speaks spanish, must be Puerto Rican...lol! When I told some of them about Stivalis, they pictured her being light skinned with hair down to the floor. Once they saw the photo's us together & a few family members came to the wedding in Cali. Bro, you should have seen the mouths hit the floor. Most of Stivalis's family is darker than mine. Don't be too hard on your mom's. First of all, most mother's feel that no woman is good enough for their son. Second of all, we all have a family member with similar ideas...

They just need to living proof, to show them otherwise...lol
